Just a thought perhaps we are going the wrong way about this orkies have always been strongest star base ,perhaps buffing the other designated anti structure units would do more to limit its abuse, perhaps in allowing them to bypassing the armor bonuses which seriously limits their damage to the orky late game and the other factions star bases could buffed slightly more health/shields to offse
i don't usually use espionage tech much but i think the bonuses allow you to spend more money on spies so you can have more spies quicker and possibly speed up intel levels but im uncertain about the last bit! for the the super hive abiltty it works with base thalan production buildings ( the manufacturing matrices) but not super or galactic project
if you want a harder game in TA just create some custom ai races with the different AI behaviours seriously have a play around, also some of the AI behaviours do better under certain conditions ie the number of extreme planet or size of galaxy not all work well. anyway there are plenty of way to fight against the ai even with its economic bonuses.
I like both games but supcom2 is a more of a tactical game than supcom and FA which seemed more strategic to me, it is still fun and mostly balanced my advice is download the demo and give it a few goes before you buy its a little different so try and keep an open mind when you play it and then decide if you like it.
The problem with the ai generally has to do with the new tech trees that were added particularly in terms of building stratagies. Some of the AI types seem to struggle depending on the setup i,e galaxy size, extreme planets or research rate, The drengin in particular seem to hate extreme planets. Also your play style tends to have an effect on how well other races do. i.e. generally if you trying to play good you defend/help like m
I have both games and all expansions! first Entrechment still in beta testing so there are still bugs to work out but it is still great fun to play! As for download problems i have had no problems with impulse and i have been able to have both games on my laptop and PC. Also you will be using impulse for updates. Also its fairly easy to backup you downloaded games using the archive feature so you might as well buy
