Getting whacked by DL in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

Playing the Milky Way scenario as the humans it seems that after i colonise a few planets i get whacked by a Dark Lord invasion (including taking out Earth), I've tried restarting from a turn 1 save but it just happens again even if i'm more conservative with my expansion. help!
