vStyler - I tell you - we read a pamphlet that the doctor gave us describing the bad stuff about smoking - man that will keep you FROM sleeping when you read that. Hang in there!
The "after meal" or other pleasurable activity cigarette is the behavioral craving that cessation causes. These respond to support from a buddy or spouse.
Ah...so it is her fault! Thanks for that! :CONGRAT: Just kidding - point well taken. Time to try that abstinence thing - I think this may be harder than I thought. ;p

Dr J0622 - you have probably heard of Chantix then - it is different and is aimed directly at the physiological side of smoking. I can tell you this - we have been on it for a few days - the doctor told us that we didn't need to stop immediately but wanted us to - the documentation actually says there is no need to stop for 8 days - well we stopped after 4 not because we had to but because the cravings just simply stopped. It is weird but seems effective so far. I know it

I am with Starkers if there is anything I can do to help I will. I have been running Vista on over 100 machines now since its release and have probably had the wonderful opportunity to see it all. Not to start another bash Vista thread but I do like Vista much better than XP. I started with the very first version of Windows and all the way through XP and have really put XP through its paces and now have done the same with Vista. Vista when setup properly is much more stable than XP a

vStyler - my wife and I are right along with you. We are using something called Chantix. Not cheap but works differently than patches or gum. We are very committed and I told her you were stopping as well. So we are in this together. :CONGRAT:

I didn't know I was here - and by the way where am I again? I just happen to trip through the door one day and then addiction set in and here I am still. I do find the personalities very engaging and there is much humor. Oh yeah and there is this little thing called talent that seems to be all over the place here.

BoXXi - now that is what I call a bad day - I do hope you get to feeling better and perhaps salvage some good things out of all of it. I am sorry to hear of your challenges but it sounds like you needed to get things taken care of - infections such as that can get very bad very quickly.

Bushman - don't know for sure but I have had what you had happen occur to me. When the power supply goes out it sends too much voltage or a nice spike throughout your entire system and then the weakest components go first but not all at once. Sometimes it can take weeks to happen but usually it can be traced back to the power supply failure. Although none of this makes you feel any better just thought I would throw in some of my experiences.

I would have posted sooner but I kept falling asleep trying to read the initial post and then my head would hit the keyboard and the reply was something like: ddsrsd97salkrur;[w[ojr40rldlzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... So now that I am awake: From me and my family to you and yours we wish you a peaceful, joyous, and safe Holiday Season! ...and Zubaz a daily prayer goes out from us for all there. - Ken, Nanette, Christian and Isaac.
So does my memory these days... which is why I depend on technology to do it for me... and why I'm stuffed when technology fails.
Starkers you and I are in the same boat on this - and I too have the same reaction when my "external brain" fails me. :( But I am sure you and I will continue to lean on technology and endure the love / hate relationship until the very end... ;)

There is always RAID or you could buy one of those $10,000 drive arrays. :SURPRISED: Although those things break also so I guess the only thing that works is back to pencil and paper but then the pencil could break... Oh well...I guess no matter what we use nothing is for certain...I think it is a conspiracy! :( Oh yes the backup idea - yes a good idea - but then you could also be backing up the very problems you are trying to resolve... Okay technology
