I saw this same problem prior to 1.1. Where the npc pioneers would be moving around the map and enemies were trying to attack them and just ending up on the same square as the pioneer unit after every turn, trying desperately to attack something that couldn't be killed. I don't think pioneers should ever be invincible, too cheesy.

There can be tiles for cities that have 5 food, but I have yet to see any 5 production tiles or 5 essence. The most essence I think I have seen is 3, and it seems to be rare to find for starting positions, requiring many reloads (wasting my time). I understand the total grain, materials and essence will equal 9 at most, but hey why not be able to have some 2/2/5 spots for example? Having played games since I was 8 and being almost 40 now, I have played a LOT of strategy

I am going to have to agree spells should follow their elements. If you look at the spheres of magic in Age of Wonders(just one game of many I chose!), you will see they adopt that stance. Life and Water had heals. Life had direct healing, Water had AoE heals, slightly less powerful than direct heals. Air gave you such things as air elementals, lightning spells, things one would presume you would get for choosing a book based on Air! When I play Elemental, and

As stated by posters above me, many facets of the game are quite boring/bland. Heroes/Sovereigns - Definitely need to be more epic in feel and scope. They should outclass any standard units. Period. Items they acquire and use should add abilities or spell charges. Magic wands for ranged magical attacks. Something, bloody.. something. Look at the games we have all played. Disciples, Homm, AOW.. bloody heck, Lords of magic! Hero/Leader units GET special items and treatment, why should E

Thanks much for setting movement back to what it was before. Please let it be on par with movement in similiar games!

Comparing Elemental to Mom is like beating a dead horse, but.. I found setting up my 'wizard' with some thought into which perks/spellbooks to pick and then 'choosing' which race to play (knowing each have their own pro's/con's) INFINITELY more fun at the start of MoM than anything Elemental has to offer with its drab options for setting up a sovereign and just no description on what a 'spell' book confers or even a reason to pick 'specific' spell books for tactical/s

Much appreciated. I don't mind tiles costing more movement points, but please, please make sure the amount of movement units and sovereigns are allocated are 'balanced' with these tiles and the need to explore in the beginning. Taking 20 turns to cover 20 tiles is crazy! At most these 'expensive' movement point tiles should comprise no more than 25% of the landscape and that might be too generous! I would hate to see 'inflated' movement point pools to cover more ground as the

Barren Desert tile. Movement cost, 1 movement. Tile next to it, exactly the same name, identical in appearance, movement cost 2.0. W t h? I just started a new game and every tile in a 5 mile radius around my starting city eats up 2.0 movement. Talk about a pain in the arse trying to catch up to and hire heroes/champions moving 'away' from you. You can't catch em! :(

So wait, you are trying to compare a game AI that is how many years old to current AI or AI that came about after much trial and error? Ahaha, I see what you did there. If you want to understand MOM better, jump in your time machine, go back to 1994 and compare it to what was available then. Yeah, We aren't going to put MOM's AI on any pedestal compared to what is available now. Not that anyone ever did put it on a pedestal. The game was just a load of fun. Still is. I

If you purchase it now, you may find yourself walking away upset with the things that do not work, or are not balanced. There are FAR worse games out there. You have most assuredly purchased some of them in your gaming lifetime. As many have stated, Stardock seems to be inclined to continue working hard on Elemental and getting it working right and maximizing its potential. If you value a company that makes such games as Elemental and want to see this game succeed, you

There is a certain amount of polish these days gamers expect. When games ships with features missing (and still missing, multiplayer), issues with the game running properly (slowdowns, not yet optimized), broken or poorly designed game mechanics (especially in a game like a 4x), vague and obscure information about what is in the game, or hard to find information buried too deep, and so on. THESE kind of things make the majority of us gamers scream 'WHY?? Why did you release it in such

I sorely wish they would reevaluate the current mana/regen system. They should just add a new statistic for mana regen. Willpower would be nice. Let Willpower serve a dual function, mana regen rates, and spell resistance. There needs to be some sort of equipment limitation imo to balance being able to achieve high mana regen. If you have a character decked out in gear giving them massive movement/speed/defense and they can cast spells left and right, you have the 'uber unit' p

Everybody else is doing it, figured I would like to throw my two pennies out there. Really keen on seeing the game improve! Apologies if I suggest things already being fixed or suggested by others! More options at map creation - Such ass land mass shape, amount of water on map, number of islands/continents, number of minor factions and sliders for amount of goodie huts/forests/hills/mountains</s

I for one would LOVE if they made each school of magic more robust, and made choosing books a more tactical decision. As it currently stands, picking all the books 'because they are cheap' and due to low number of spells that mostly suck or are copies of each other really sucks a lot of fun out of the magic portion of the game. Would also love to see champions come with a spell or ability unique to them and them only. Perhaps a nice 'pool' of skills, sort of like in MOM where every ga

So, due to being able to stack movement into the realms of absurd, and then regenerate mana -in- combat, you could theoretically run around the tactical map getting all your mana back before you end the fight/flee? Sigh, they really gotta fix some of this stuff!

I hate when the AI makes a stupid choice, and gets their sovereign killed early, thus eliminating the faction. This is too early in the game to really have successors too. In AOW, sadly, the 'leaders' never really moved off their capital city. In MOM there was no physical manifestation of the wizard, just a 'capital city'. However, If in the mid to late game and I am out to conquer a kingdom, I have usually prepared with a big enough army/spells/etc to come in and destroy said kingdom

I would also pay for a MOM remake, but I doubt most of us here on the Elemental forums want Elemental to BE that game. No, we want something BETTER. We want to see Elemental have the depth, complexity, nice features, pretty UI, etc that have come to be expected from a game in this day and age. It stings when you see a game like MOM still delivering a more 'fun' experience. You cannot help but to compare these two similiar games to one another and when the much newer

Here are some things of the things MOM did SO right that I can only wish Elemental did.. From the beginning, I sat there pondering choices at character creation that would impact my game, long term. Should I spend my 'picks' on 10 books of the same type of magic, thus allowing me to eventually research all 40 spells of that color? Should I dabble in several book colors, knowing full well I would not be able to research all of the spells, but knowing I had a chance of discoveri

I have and always will love MOM. It was the game that inspired me to purchase a PC. I actually saw and game and a big, thick hint book and purchased both months before I could even buy a PC. Over the years, I have lost track of how many games I have played and loved (and hated!), but MOM and MOO2 rank very high up on my list of all time favorites. Yes, I too was hoping Elemental would recapture some of that Magic from MOM, but for all its goodness, it is no MOM. I sit

Probably the single largest gripe I have. How is it a game made in 1994 has a very robust, workable magic system with such variety, and this game just utterly fails at delivering? Can't play like they didn't have a great resource to look at. The Magic in this game is -VERY- underwhelming, along with many other things. So. Very. Sad! I want this game to succeed. I want to see the improvements. I want to see it surpass games like Mom, Aow, Homm in terms of 'fun strategy

People saying, "Give them time", but i thought their stance on tactical combat was it isn't supposed to be very deep? (which i find to be bs) I also grew up playing and loving MOM. You simply cannot ignore what games in the past have done. They -set the bar-. Ignoring it would be like saying, "Hey, I am going to make the best MMO in the world and more people are going to play it than WOW!" and just throwing your money down the toilet because you refuse to do what others have d

I actually bought Masters of Magic when it came out, before I even owned a PC. I saw it and thought 'Omg, they made the game I dreamed of!' Yeah yeah, I know. I thought the system of 'swords' and 'shields' with a 'chance to hit' while basic, worked extremely well. I knew each shield on my unit or heroes had a base 30% chance to block a point of damage. I knew each sword represented a 30% chance to do 1 point of damage. I also knew, better units (IE, heroes, more advanc
