Yes...I've recently bought a new rig, and today attempted to put Crysis on there and play it on the highest settings. Yes, I also failed. Not only did I fail, but I had the humiliating experience of having to switch the settings to LOW before it was playable. Note that this was a completely unpatched version of Crysis, so it will improve once I patched it, but the experience taught me a lesson, as well as giving a healthy blow to my pride. Never attempt to buy the best PC and run the mos

You guys made a suite like this for my birthday? Wow, THANKS!!! Needs a suite...and it's a VERY cool blind.
Hmmm...this post hasn't yet covered those of us who set our keyboards ablaze while typing, so half of our keys are missing by the time we finish typing a single sentence. It's pretty hard to type it righ wen or kybard s flmng... And talking about spelling in IRC channels...if I'm gonna get my 2c in, I've gotta type fast or the other comedians on the channel will beat me to a punchline and be halfway through the next topic!!! Anyway...the moral: gud peeple spel rite. The bad people spe
Moderators are real people...wow! ;)
AAHH...now I remember...this software is subscription...hmmmm...better start saving :D. HG_Eliminator is right, though. Not many companies stick around if they don't have a continuous, steady cash-flow. F.E. Check the PDA software and the PC game industries. I have a feeling I'll be paying for Stardock's Object Desktop 'til I'm old and gray...Add to which, the fact that my windows customize subscription lasts until 2012...I HATE plain XP and Vista, now. Only started work again on Monday, and alr
I HAVE to contradict Starkers. I don't work for Woolworths, never have. They are WAAY cheaper than Coles, and as for price increases every week, I've never seen it, but if they are there, then just remember Australia is in the middle of a drought, and has been for some years now. The other stores in Australia sell one product in each line, at least Woolies gives you choice. Aldi sucks. Coles is over-priced. Bi-Lo is out of business due to it's scummy appearance (Yellow and orange were AWFUL). IG
"Playing" Battlefront II, Battlefield 1942, Jedi Academy, Stronghold. "Installed" Gothic 3, Oblivion, The Phantom Menace X-( , Sim City 2000 :p (I had a sudden urge for 'retro') Unfortunately, every game I get has to be 'better' than the last one, so I limit my game-choices a bit. Note some guy up there has my favorite games listed: KOTOR 1&2, RepCom, Battlefront, Empire at War etc. Anything by Lucas Arts eventually ends up in my library...and I don't go in for gore, so Lucas Arts is perfect :

Correction. Kill UAC permanently. (Sorry, Starkers  ) I installed the patch fine on XP... Restarted PC to test whether it slowed down boot-time, which it didn't, but I did get a "Windows Explorer illegal operation" or some such two reboots in a row, so I killed power completely and the PC booted fine (and I've rebooted a couple of times just to test, and it's still fine). Don't know if I've updated on the Vista machine yet... <a href="https://www.wincustomize.com/resources.aspx?cmd
Thankyou, Zoomba. :CONGRAT:
this is going to get real good!
...and real scarey...I'm never here, so if my nick was stolen, you wouldn't know if it was me or not...as it is, it's me, is it not? ;p Please let us know if you're suspicions prove correct, Zoomba...
The third one is the craziest Vista thing. I can override XP's security settings when dual-booting. Vista is OK, and that comic is gross, but in January it was so true. Updates have made it nice to work with, and if anyone EVER switches the 'monitoring' on for me, I'll have to take extreme steps to remove them from the gene pool. Gamers shouldn't switch yet...
Hi, Thanks for your replies...the picture was a 50x50 .jpg, but that didn't work, so I resized it to 48x48, which still didn't work. I've just cleared my cache and will try again. Tnks! :EDIT:Nope, no confirmation message. The image I want to use is at http://www.multi-os-guy.com/me.jpg It's 50x50 in JPG format. Does it matter that I'm only attempting to add an icon, or do I have to add all pictures before it will update my profile (like desktop etc.). <br /
Hi, I've attempted to add an avatar pic from WinCustomize browser and in IE7 and both times it has failed. Can someone please let me in on the secret ;p It pretends to upload ( :NOTSURE: ), but then no pictures become available. Does admin censor our pictures first and then they become available later? ;) My sincere apologies if this has been answered a million times already. Thanks, Dabih
cease and decease ;) Seize and desist Sorry...that's - Caesar and de sister Dammit...note-to-self...never go to mord-wixing sites. :D
I tried Vista back in March...was so disgusted I got a copy of Linux Debian and ran it for a while. Then ('cause I was a noob at Linux) I switched back to XP. Tried Vista again in June (after I thought some updates would be out)...and you wouldn't believe it, but I was so disgusted again that this time I installed Ubuntu and used it for a few weeks, got comfortable in the Linux shell/GUI, then switched to Debian 4.0. Now (due to my gaming tendencies <img src="smiles/Ew.gif" border=0 align="abs
Anyhow, I'm getting sick and tired of this male - female debate....it is much ado about bugger all and has gone on far too long. ::Sniff:: I can take a hint... (hmm...they even labeled their crying icon 'sniff'... ) Anyway, I created a page last night, and tod
OK, from what I read, you need some market research...how 'bout Stardock emails ALL their subscribers and asks them to participate in a survey describing what they would like (don't exclude the men so's they don't feel discriminated against). Then, analyse the data separately (by male and female respondents) and find out what women want. Alternatively, I could do a webpage and upload it to my site and you can tell me what to modify and add, and then just post a message or two on these foru
err...not that I would or anything...so don't get the wrong idea...but which slider is it?
Hmmm...yes, the Eye of the Beholder...but about recolouring skins, how many people have the time or desire to recolor someone else's skin? (and that's not even taking copyright into account ) And I should be OK for getting images of 'pink' skins...I'll just screenshot whatever comes out in the Stardock Central skin browser...and add big signs stating, 'I DO NOT USE A PINK DESKTOP' <img src="http://images.stard
I like a lot of those ideas, but maybe not put up pictures of the skinners themselves...maybe they could use stand-ins... Anyway, I had a look at what comes with applications like ObjectDock and Object Desktop (Theme Manager) and guess what? No "pinks" ship with either of the above programs (from what I downloaded in July/Aug anyway). How do you expect women to fall for programs that ship with mainl
I figure that if it came into my head, it's probably a stale idea already, but I put forward the following methods: promote skins that would appeal to women (i.e. pink (@jafo) ) maybe switch some jargon in the advertising to ensure that women realise it is not a male 'sport'. how 'bout ensuring that some images of women get onto Stardock's site try to get some of the w
That's not in my comfort zone, sorry
If I get Jafo's message right...he means that just because a skin is 'girly' doesn't make it inferior (I hate interpreting). If in fact Jafo's opinion was that pink or blue make no difference then I beg leave to differ. Somehow I can't see my friends coming over for a LAN party and me booting into a hot pink desktop... <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/wc/icons/wc.gi
I'll give it a go...no assessment due immediately anyway...
