Gilders are the decided upon name it seems.
BTW, if anyone is thinking the cloth map is ugly, it was actually a compromise. I wanted Beta 1 to look like this (seriously):
Oh Brad, you magnificent bastard you. Post more, quickly! You have whet my appetite, and I'm feeling peckish. Also, I ache every time I see a picture of the real engine, so I think, as awesome as that would have been, I'm good with the cloth map. I
I've been playing it quite a bit with food as a global resource and I like it. A LOT. It's fun. I don't see how it's unrealistic given that food is treated as perishable (i.e. you don't get to "store" it and you get bonuses for having roads and caravans and such). The average person doesn't live anywhere near a farm. I live near Detroit. Not a lot of farms near Detroit. Success in Elemental's economy will boil
I'll hold you to that Boogs. Ah well, I've got the Merlin marathon today and the SG:U one tomorrow to keep me company.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE! Well, it's good you folks stick to the principle of making the game as good as possible. While it makes me sad I have to wait 56 turns for a watchtower for another week, I suppose if I get a 'polished' 1Z, that's more than fine with me. Interesting patch notes. And good on you guys letting more people in for this. They could have been waiting for 2 for a while, based on the community vote on 1Z.
We're looking at letting people get into beta 1Z. Depends on whether we end up delaying the beta tomorrow.
As much as I'd like a larger playerbase for beta (more money for Stardock) don't delay 1Z! Le sob.
Tile randomization, it would seem. As for the video, good stuff. But as always, a glimps of the actual engine makes me crave more.
Guys, please, please don't call the currency something stupid. If you think it makes your game "more creative" to call it Deubeldorks or Froinks, you're just wrong. CALL IT GOLD, or coins, or friggin'... GOLD! Call it something people normally refer to as a resource. WHY make us memorize 200 different words for the same thing, GOLD. Thank you.
Again. Because Stardock
I apologize if any of these have been posted before. "Monsters? My grandma is scarier than that wee beastie!" (Remove 'wee' as preferred.) "A quick mind can be as deadly as the quickest blade." "They tell me that death is a horrible thing. Heh, he and I are old friends." "At your service liege." "Bloody magic and. . .there's a snake in my boot!" "The soul of a warrior is measured not by the size of his blade, but by the size of his honor." (. .
NOOOO! Please do not commit the "calling a rabbit a smeerp" violation from the Turkey City Lexicon! Currency should be named gold if it's yellow, silvers if it's grey, platinum if it's white, and bloody just coins if it's coins! I urge you to reconsider.
I urge you to reconsider this line of thought. Gold is: - An element (I think? I was never much of a chemist)</p
Myrunes.
So I just played through my first game (I somehow completed 400+ turns). Victory through conquest, and speed-turning. (Research all the good stuff and ignore the rest of the game, then go hunting. :P) There were a couple grins, and a "Ha-ah!" when I won, so I'll be seeing a psychiatrist next week. Even for a game without serious graphics, I am wholly impressed with the work so far. It ain't quite fun, but it's satisfying.</p
Got the mail, then freaked out when it told be it failed to Register. Oh, wait. It has the wrong email preset! Dahuuuuur. And still, even if my brain is hemmoraging by the end of tonight, it's Stardock. I may not have fun, but I will be eminently satisfied. Go Stardock, woooo.
I didn't even notice the name of the OP. Go-go gadget Steve Erikson. On topic: Hopefully they get to my pre-order before I dive into X3 for the day. I'll lose my entire day to that monster.
Ahhh, game design. Like putting together an onion. Except. . .onions don't generally explode. . .
I shall join the chorus of small people waiting for our beta. Should be good stuff(s).
I'm not. I have some sort of problem where, no matter the servers distance from me, I clock in at 300+ ping. Even if I can tracert to the server and get 10. =/
The more I think about the concept of a 'time bank', the more I hate it. I generally don't play multiplayer TBS unless I'm talking directly to the people I'm playing with. If I weren't, I think rushing through a turn in 15/10/5 seconds would utterly ruin the experience for me. Part of the strategy genre to me is 'the mind game' Talking with your opponent, making a friend here and there. Besides, when h
Lords of Magic has always been the best sort of showing for me. It was 'Traditional' and I still enjoy it immensely. The problem for me with Simultaneous is that it ends up with people making moves they wouldn't have if they had any sort of info. Things like moving a group three tiles past where your enemy moved them. Which allows your enemy to simply run in and destroy your city while you're too far away to respond. (As I l

Frogboy. . .wrote a book? Hell, if Frogboy can get published, I can. (In some sort of alternate universe) Looking forward to it. Should be. . .very interesting. Here's to crazy worlds, crazy bad guys and great plot.
I was going to come in and say "This should probably be in the Off Topic area" But. . .uh, interesting question. I believe (If I've read correctly) that when a child returns to your 'nation' or grows up within it, it becomes a champion. I assume you can equip champions like heroes of some sort. Don't quote me on it though. As for losing fertility; It'd certainly be something I would expect. It'd get a
What's the 'Insane' trait entail? I don't want to wait till Thursday to find out! I'll probably make all of my Sovereigns it, if it's interesting enough. Here's a couple, so it isn't spam: T: Stoicism : +X against death/plague/fear (Depending on what there is) to all units with Sovereign W: Malevolent : -X growth rate in cities W: Insidious : -X loyalty of tr
I can't have beta now? I can't?! I'll show you, sirrah! *Goes and twiddles his thumbs till Thursday* Thanks for the good response Boogie, and I agree with all the other points in the thread. Stardock is one of the last companies out there (IMO) that makes quality games and doesn't try to monopolize the market/consumers off their success. Maybe after you guys design a few more games. . . I'm a fan of the March 4th (?) idea. Good stuff there for us 'late' pre-orders. As for the patch notes, looks like some interesting improvements. Also, Rats in Basement? Really? I just started a new game of Morrowind last night.
