Now im nagging him to set me up and give me advice Im a total newbie however so i guess playing in this succession game will mean i will fail
As am I. If you'd like to set up before or after me, let me know. It'll likely be long enough into the game and stable enough that you can at least run it and keep everyone/most

I've been fiendishly working my way through the forum archives (got through SG1-4,6 and am currently finishing up Headshoot) since Boatmurdered got me into Dwarf Fortress a little under a week ago. I don't have any ridiculously awesome stories (just ridiculous ones, like accidentally flooding my entire fort with lava while failing to understand magma cannon construction.) but soon, soon.
Sucky players in a moderately dangerous environ just means more Fun. Myles, I added you to the list in front of me. I had to stop myself from penciling you in as Monty because I forgot your name when I went to edit, despite loving your posts. Bill, strike the earth, and godsspeed.

Also, anyone that bothers to read this and isn't playing; If you'd like to die horribly in Starfist,

Of course, if anyone else want to use them, that's fine, but I'll stick to the ASCII.
I wanted to get going as fast as I can. I'm reading a bunch of old succession forts AAR threads and puzzling out the ASCII. I'll likely strip the tileset once I feel comfortable reading the screen at a glance.
Have you tried Mayday's Graphical pack ? It can be useful if you are planning to make AAR. Even non-player can easily understand what's going on. http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php
I'm using it. And will have it for my AAR screenshots.
The title says it all. We, here at the Stardock forums, will be playing at least 1 game, of succession Dwarf Fortress. We're spamy mcspamsalot'ing this thread. We might want to start a new thread in PC Gaming.

Keep in mind I'm basically nit-picking at this point because of lack of knowledge. So whatever will work, I can probably do something w

My primal fear is that this video is to draw our attention away from the lifeless corpse of Beta 2 being hauled back into the workshop by paramedics. (It's a Frankenstein monster, don'tcha know.) Either way, I lol'd.
Hegemony: Philip of Macedon is like SoaSE in Ancient Greece without the base-building, and I think a tad bit more strategic depth. If you're looking for space 4X, you aren't going to find another 4X-RTS until Star Ruler (as far as I can tell). Good 4X space games include; Sword of the Stars (Thank you acare) Space Empires 5 Distant Worlds Funnily enough, without intending to, that list is more-or-less
It's difficult to to implement. At best, it will look like AI is adaping, but it will be programmed to do so, it will not do it itself. Also, a game should have effective scouting. So to adapt to something, AI should have a way to know about that "something" (like, the fact that you're defenceless). Surprisingly, most 4X strategies are reactive - you see something happening and you adapt to what already happened. There isn't many
