875 turns? Seriously?

I have played about six hours. I've had three CTDs, two of which were in the campaign. While it isn't as polished as my last purchase (StarCraft 2), that is to be expected. That said, this is still, in my opinion, the best game Stardock have made, and I REALLY loved Sins (yeah I know, Ironclad but meh). This is the first turn-based 4X which has really gripped me, GalCiv was fine but I never got so involved with it. Elemental really is good, and will be amazing once they've ironed out the bugs
Meh, I don't think it really has too steep a learning curve. I'm not exactly a big 4X player (the only other ones I've enjoyed have been GalCiv and SoaSE, though I only played the latter extensively), but I was used to it and knew how to do most things within an hour. Then again, I am used to ArmA 2, which I've been playing for months, and I still don't know half of the controls.
My (somwhat gaming-capable) laptop ran it fine on 3D mode, then again it is quite modern. I'll try it on some real relics later, should be entertaining.
Just had an out of memory about 160 turns in. My specs: Win 7 64bit Home i7 920 @2.66 GHz HD 5870 9GB DDR3 debug.err: http://pastebin.ca/1923499
I also experienced this. I started a new campaign to see whether it would do it again, and it crashed immediately upon me clicking start.
I, for one, look forward to an in depth building mechanic. Building in strategy (and simulation) games is my all time favorite thing to do (which is why Dawn of War 2 doesn't appeal to me very much at all).
I too am more of a base-builder in strategy games (which is why I absolutely loved entrenchment), yet I still really enjoyed DoW2. If you find it anywhere cheap, I would recommend picking it up, but be aware it is
I will also be trying to get the game to run on the lowest possible hardware. I have some really old, generally unpleasant PCs which were once school computers. I wonder whether it'll run on them? (I also have some really high-end PCs, as the guy above does, I do actually want to play the game).
This is pretty much the only thing which I think Steam has over Impulse. If it displayed what we have bought (and pre-ordered) in the store section, I would seriously consider using it instead of Steam for every game, rather than just Stardock games.
