Will Elemental use Python 2.6.5? Or 3.1.2 (or whatever version of 3 is current at the time of release)? Personally, I'm excited, I love Python and it was the first language I really learned to program in. Not to mention it has the advantage of being a fully developed, versatile and feature rich scripting language rather than a handicapped game specific language.
Are your drivers updated to the latest version? That seems to be a cause of a few weird issues. If not, be sure to bug report it in the proper area if you haven't done so already. :)

Also keep in mind that it's been written a few places that there's supposed to be a possible and meaningful choice between churning out a ton of cheap untrained units versus a small elite strike team.
