It's a little unintuitive, but if you select the NPC, and then change to their "actions" tab at the bottom left, there's a "recruit" button. If it's gray it will tell you why (probably just money). The adventure thing I'm not sure about, but your "adventure" level is not the level of a particular hero. First you have to research the correct tree, and then (this is a critical part I didn't understand until about 10 minutes ago) you have a *choice* of which upgrade from t

0-day patch drops sometime today which, among an extensive list of other fixes, addresses map randomization and interface. How well it addresses them I guess we'll see, but judging by the interim patch, it will smooth a lot of rough edges. Personally, I think a year is a little harsh. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you have the latest drivers from ATI. I have the same card as you, running win 7 64x, and I haven't had any of those errors... There may be a problem with the card - old drivers or firmware maybe, or with the PCIe slot (which might be what burned out your old card?)

Oh dear. Well, I definitely pre-ordered, and I was not in the beta. When I choose Blue Menu, Register Product, all I see is my galciv games - no Elemental. Is it only beta people who have the game in their Impulse, or are us regular pre-order people supposed to have it too? I'm going to be rather sad if I have to wrestle with sales/support, because I wouldn't expect much help to be available on Sunday...
