An outpost built by the ai on top of crystal cannot be attacked. I've a saved game demonstrating the problem, but cannot see how to upload the file.

I've repeated this quest and same result, gold but no item. I've also a save game just prior to fighting the battle if needed to verify. I'll try and reproduce this in another game as well :)
After defeating the dragon the pop-up says 'you find some gold and a magical item', however I didn't receive an item, unless the plate item I gained at the start of the quest was it.
Enemy sovereign already had burning blade active, and managed to get a further stack of Burning Blade by casting it on himself in battle.
Killed a couple of shadow stalkers (no loot), moved to grab the lair loots and gained nothing.
Haven't seen it ever actually work as intended as yet.
Seems pretty normal for a high lvl champion. Could well have some 'interesting' items on him which bumps up the recruitment cost as well.
No disdain at all for people who reload here. "Save-scumming" is the commonly used phrase to describe the behaviour and it gets discussed a lot (with that phrase) on various game forums. Not sure what you mean about the stability argument, I thought I was clear enough in that it would be a point against having such a system. It is ok for people to hate the idea, some like, some dislike, the thread is about teasing out a possible improvement for the game which is probably not going to
Kantok, the beauty of the system is if you reload all you like, you'd benefit from doing that, if you don't you benefit in a different way. The idea would be to pitch any bonus at a level where a reloader (or someone who only has short play sessions) is very definitely not punished for doing so, heck the stability question is a good one. Rather, subtle positive reinforcement to encourage players get over 'save-scumming' everything in the game. Heck, I know I do it and have don
This idea allows you to save as much you like, autosaves etc. The bonus is only removed if you reload, so killing the game in task manager you'll still need to relaunch the game and load up your last save, zeroing any bonus. It isn't about forcing oneself not to reload, but rewarding oneself for not reloading ;)
An indy rpg called Frayed Knights had a great system of rewarding players who did not abuse save / reload by having a meter which gradually filled up the longer you played without reloading the game. Like a mana bar, portions of that could be spent on buffs which improved your characters abilities for a time, or healed them up etc. This encouraged people to take on difficult challenges without that save/reload crutch which pretty much every rpg'er / strategy gamer over-relies on. <p
I'll echo EvilMaxWar and say I was disappointed with WOM, but am enjoying FE much much more. I feel it really says something about Stardock that they are trying to make things right and inviting a lot of testers to help provide input. I've plowed a good few hours into FE now and it feels like it has that certain something, 'soul' if you will, that makes for a great game which sadly WOM lacked. Likes : Loot - good variety, meaningful and powerful stuff to get.</
Just pre-ordered. Hello again to all the usual suspects ;p
