I was a real fan of GalCiv with all it's expansions. As such I had had high hopes for Elemental, getting into the Beta and all. Disappointment followed. I completely forgot about the title and the series. Then I noticed, hidden away on Gamersgate, the release announcement for Fallen Enchantress. I logged into my long forgotten Stardock account. And behold, there it was, as promised nearly two years ago - the free copy of Fallen Enchantress . </

Same problem here, 1.09e installed, want to update to 1.09n - "File downloaded is smaller than expected". If this is really just a "junk" file, how hard can it be to either upload the proper one or retract the update from the servers?
In this case, the guy being sold on the game could have very well seen the problems, but at the same time, seen the potential. A good deal of people here have confidence in Stardock to correct the problems in the game, and even improve the areas that aren't problematic over time.
Precisely. Yes, it has problems, but from past experience I simply am confident that Stardock will get them not only und

A friend of mine visited today, who is also a huge fan of the old Civ and MoM series. We were talking about newer games in that style, that are also playable on not-cutting edge computers. So I showed him Elemental, a quick run-through combat, city management, research, the works. His words: "Extremely cool, I need to buy this!" He isn't really a hardcore gamer, but likes the oldschool TBS games. So, you just sold another copy and got another thumbs-up on a game

Zebra: the point is NOT modifying the corelogos.xml. ;) Yes, it seems the faction editor plain ignores all mods or custom xmls... :(

Strange. That's what I tried yesterday. I'll try again - the logo.xml was in "MyGames/Elemental/Units", though (worked for the custom faction). Maybe that's the problem. Is there really no way to split off my custom logos from the default ones? In a different folder, under the mod structure, I mean?

As a clarification: I know how to bring a custom logo in the game for a custom faction, using xml. I just don't want to have to quit the game, edit my CustomLogos.xml, add a new logo, add the logo to the faction.xml and then start Elemental again. I want to be able to choose the logo in the creator. Is editing the CoreLogos.xml really the only way? IS that a way? As a side note - so far the logo image is only recognised if I put it in the Elemental/Gfx/Logos folder. What is th

How? I want custom logos to be available in the faction editor. So far I've tried placing them directly (numbered crest_xx.png) in /gfx/logos but they don't show up. I know from GalCiv that naming shouldn't matter, but then GalCiv was a different game. ;)

I've played Stardock games for a while, participated in a few Betas both open and closed... I should have known hat Beta 4 wasn't the real deal. It was mediocre. But I just fired up the release version, and, my god what have you done. It just blows my mind how big a leap in quality, content and polish this is. Now, there are a few issues remaining (Elemental crashing on alt-tab, for example) but I know from GalCiv and SoaSE just how dedicated Stardock are to their title

From what I've seen of the battles so far, they feel too 'small'. The field is a bit cramped and units start very close to each other (within two squares). Additionally, the squares are very large - probably to accomodate the very slow movement rates of units. My suggestion to make battles feel more epic: - smaller squares for finer control - increase movement rates slightly - spawn units further apart so the is more room and time for manoevres</

When using a pioneer to build a new town, the tooltip of the buttons says "cost: 0 gold". However, when you actually build the town, it sometimes deducts over 250 gold from your treasury. The tooltip should reflect that. In addition, I'd like a warning if an action I perform puts my treasury below 0. As it is, I have to guess how much a town will cost, guess wrong and spend the next 30 turn getting my treasury back up while one unit after the other starts to desert me.<

Generally I think the music is too heavy and imposing. But then I turn off ingame music almost instantly in all games. ;)

The issue seems fixed in 0.92, although some funkiness remains (fullscreen starting on parent monitor instead of primary, application not getting focus on startup).

I agree with the alternative - spell availability should also be connected to caster level. I.e. a fresh mage couldn't cast all available spells even if they have enough mana etc. That would make old, experienced mages much more valuable and open up more strategic choices: Do I use my veteran mage in frontline combat where he is devastating but easily killed? Do I keep him roaming the land casting spells, where I may need a protective army patrolling? Or do I keep him safe in my capital, summ
This is most likely because the smaller display is in fact set as the primary in windows (see the driver info section).
Um, it is designated device #1, not primary. Primary device according to both Windows and NVidia control panel is device #2. As is supported by the fact that every fullscreen app automagically starts on device #2, the primary. The last public build (.89?) recognised it properly, by the way.

Note how it says DebugMessage: Game Resolution: 1280 x 1024 (full screen mode) although I most definitely selected 1680x1050 in the options menu.

As of the latest Beta (0.90), I can't change my resolution any more. My setup: Primary monitor with 1680x1050 Secondary monitor with 1280x1024 Last version ran, as usual, on my primary monitor with full resolution. The current version also runs on my primary monitor, but for some reason always defaults back to a maximum resolution of 1280x1024, which is suspiciously the same as my secondary monitor. I tried running it with fullscre
