Hi, I really love Windowblinds, but it really is a PITA at times. One thing that might be useful would be some sort of list of programs that are incompatible, or that need workarounds applying in order to get them working. I've noticed that some skins are less compatible than others too, for instance, Encounter seems to foul things up a lot more often than other, more simple skins. Could we have a thread where people can report their incompatible app, the skin they were us

Done, above post written out of frustration as well, you must understand. I am sure I can live without my Windowblinds skins for a day or two.
Ah I fear its worse than a virus, it's that old demon called DRM again. No viruses according to a full scan with NOD32, I've restored from a system image. This time I was able to uninstall Windowblinds and reinstall it. After I reinstalled it I got "Windowblinds does not appear to be installed correctly on your system". So I clicked to fix and it demanded I activate it again, now I get "Maximum activation requiests from this IP address reached". Great thanks Star
Yeah I had login studio, tried ctrl+alt+del no luck. Thanks for all your suggestions, time to get Acronis going and restore from backup I think. Could this have occured from me installing a Beta Windowblinds perhaps?
Computers got Truecrypt on it that seems to stop system restore working from the DVD. Cannot log in via safe mode there's no user profiles shown on the logon screen just as in normal mode.
Nope, can't log on at all, even in safe mode. Was not using the trial, I'm a Object Desktop subscriber Can't get into Windows to edit the registry. Going to restore a system image I think :(
I was having a problem with Windowblinds not applying skins, so I uninstalled it. Now when I rebooted my PC, there are no user profile icons on the login screen. Any ideas anyone? Didn't really want to spend a day fixing a PC :(
Neil, with the pre-release version of Windowblinds, Firefox 4 gets its minimise and maximise button back, but it is still impossible to click any buttons on the far left or far right of the Firefox window when it is maximised, unless you show the menu bar in Firefox.
Excellent, that worked a treat, thanks.
Firefox 4 seems to be incompatible with Windowblinds, or at least the Encounter skin anyway, I've had the following problems:- Minimise and Maximise controls disappearing when Firefox 4 window maximised Unable to click the buttons that are at the far left and far right of the window when the window is maximised Even with skinning disabled for Firefox 4, I was not able to solve these problems without disabling Windowblinds entirely and going back to boring stan

Problem still occurs on Virtualbox 4.
This picture shows an example of some of the kinds of weirdness I've encountered, non skinned on the left, skinned on the right, as you can see this is totally unusable:-
I have done my Experience score, just Windowblinds doesn't report it for some reason (it did on my old PC). Edit - Just redone the scores, still the same problem with Virtualbox. I suppose I could be one of only a few people using Virtualbox and Windowblinds :) Maybe it doesn't affect ATI cards since I'm and Nvidia fanboy I can't say for sure. Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 5.9 Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 7.9 WindowBlinds
Just built a whole new PC, fresh installation of Windows 7 64 bit, same problem with Windows guests when using 2D acceleration and Windowblinds:- Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of Your Windows Graphics Experience score is WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.1 (build 273 - Windows 7 Edition) - 64 bit OS WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC (SyncMaster 204T/204Ts/204B,Sy

I seem to have found another Windowblinds problem, this time with Virtualbox. Windowblinds is running on the host operating system (obviously) it is not installed on the guest. I start Virtualbox and load one of my guest operating systems. Everything works fine up until the Virtualbox window is resized to accommodate the welcome screen on the guest OS, then Virtualbox locks up. There are two ways I can solve the lockup, one is to exclude Virtualbox from skinning in Windowblinds,&
You could try the "Only skin this applications titlebar" option which should in theory give you what you are asking for. In practice however this option never seems to work for me (WB skins the entire app with this option on, or seems to anyway).
Windows 7 64 Bit - Windowblinds 7.1 (build 273 - Windows 7 Edition) and Stardock's Encounter Skin. It's not always obvious that Windowblinds is causing the problem, but try this for example. Go to Disk and partition backup on the True Image home screen, then click on "Disk backup options" and choose the "performance" tab. Now try moving the performance sliders, they won't move easily when Windowblinds is skinning the app but exclude it and they move just fine. According t
Really, you can't imagine how that would be useful? If you totally exclude an app because it is incompatible, its titlebar is skinned in the old fashioned Windows 2000 style. If you could keep the skinning of the window title bar that would at least help it look less ugly.
True Image 2010 skins fine for me too, just not 2011. As for Directory Opus, that works fine with Windowblinds as far as I can see, make sure to turn Windowblinds compatibility mode on in Opus though.
In the per application settings in Windowblinds there is an option "Only skin this applications titlebar". Does this option ever work? Whenever I try it it seems like Windowblinds totally ignores it and goes ahead and skins the entire application.
Just a heads up, Acronis recently released an updated version of Trueimage, Trueimage 2011. With this release they totally overhauled the GUI, and in the process made it incompatible with Windowblinds. Running True Image 2011 with Windowblinds enabled results in a hideously sluggish UI and sliders which do not move correctly, menus that don't open etc etc. The only way to fix it is to totally exclude it. Just a heads up for anyone who might be using this program
This appears to be fixed in the latest update.
Well reinstalling fixed the problem for me but hopefully its 100% fixed going forward.
