Every ranged weapon - Bow, Catapult, etc - uses a ranged spell as the base for their attack.
That means bows ignore armor. Armor should work against bows Oo. I seriously can't understand how it could be justified that it *doesn't* work. It's unrealistic and completely unbalanced in any fashion.

This power only works if you station your leader (a powerful unit !) in a city, where he will do nothing but sleep and will never level-up.
What do others think?
It's too low, in my opinion. This bonus, as opposed to the +1 gildar/+1 research, will not work when the leader is adventuring

That it's another instance of those extreme "balancing tweaks" that I'm trying to warn them against. Read my post above; almost every time they change a value "for balance", they do it so drastically that it unbalances the game in the opposite direction. Also, 100% was fine. Well, not fine, maybe a bit too big, but 30% or 50% would be. That's what you should get for leaving your precious sovereign at home !

You might have to *fight* for it, which is a good thing. I

This indeed impressive work... but the library thing makes me scared. Technology improves too fast already, and we're spamming studies not because they're bad, but because they're too good not to make a lot of them (and because there's nothing else to build). On a positive note, I like that there's a distinction for roaming "bandits" and mindless creatures. Will this have a corresponding flag in the xml structure? Are there plans to make this less binary in the far future (there is on

Well, the issue with study-spam is the following: there is nothing else to do with the money. And we have too much money because of a bug, and the fact that the IA is too dumb to put the pressure on our resources. The other issue is that the production buildings are too few: workshop, study, labs. The thing is, there is no incentive to use lots of materials for now, so building lots of workshops isn't viable. Similarly, spell research is already very fast at higher levels, so it's not

I didn't mean to sound offensive, and it's great to know you'll use non-copyrighted stuff when the time comes (you know, makes it easier to advertise on other forums without fear of having the topic lock

6) The point of phalanxes is that their strength come from their formation. No such thing in the game as it is. Also, one of the most powerful middle-age weapons was the halberd; currently, the game doesn't have much more than swords and hammers late game. I think we'll need to wait a bit for them to flesh out the weapons, and that probably means... fleshing out the system first.

There is a bug, if I recall correctly. Resists are not exactly working well. (And dodge doesn't work, so you can ignore the accuracy/dodge thing 'til 1.09o)

12 Replies 11,419 Views

That's true with all weapons. Think about the power a lordhammer will have. But for regular troops, bows might become next to useless against anything with a bit of light armor :/. I'm not saying the former values were awesome, I just think the nerf is a bit exagerated. Also, lordhammers need a nerf. Either make it EXTREMELY costly, or remove at least 10 attack power from them. No other weapon comes close to that power, it's totally unbalanced.
spamming studies is not fun- building a few is cool, but like 10 in a city is not. some mechanic (uberstudies?) making an alternative option for reesearch woul be cool.
We're spamming studies because we don't yet have a requirement to use the resources somewhere else. You're not supposed to be rushing through the tech tree without a cost, so the idea is that you weren't supposed to create many studies because you'd need your people working on producing other resou
But idea of seasonal variation on the look and feel of the world would be an awesome addition.
Impractical. It would increase the workload for modders who want to create new tiles. I'd rather have only one season. Also, remember that depending on the world's "cosomology", seasons are a regional thing. In real life, christmas is celebrated during summer in Australia.

I'm actually thinking of makjing the following changes: -Base accuracy = 8 (+3*level). Upgradable with training (+3 per training rank). This will actually make heroes with high dodge useful by making them hard to hit with regular troops. They'll be here to mop up the army, not take on other heroes. -Dexterity upgradeable with training: +4 dex per rank. This will make rank-4 regular units with 11 dodge, or even more with a shield and some items. Which means that they have rough

1) Maybe one knight will die, at most. Actually, if the peasants have the initiative and tactical advantage, make that a few from ganging up 10 or 20 on 1. But not more, Make those peasants light infantry instead, and it should change drastically (you should start seeing a few casualties in the knights' ranks.) 2) 0 heroes die. 3) At most 1 hero dies through bad luck 4) The monster slaughters the peasants and steals their salted pork. Half of the stuff is a joke without it: armors with dodge penalties, dexterity, weapons with accuracy or dodge bonuses or minuses, some spells... since I like to do some tests for balance assessment purpose (probably the thing I can contribute to best), I feel like I can't really do much at the moment, and it's highly frustrating.
