wow, i apologize for any role i played in completely derailing this thread.. i just like options in my game to fiddle around with and thought it might be kinda fun if gay marriage was included. since reproduction seems to be the main goal of marriage in elemental. its not likely to be something that most people would do anyway, as i cant see how it would benefit your game in any way. it seems to me, if its included at all, it'd likely just be s

democracy doesn't necessarily mean the rule of the masses. (think civil rights) i agree that not allowing inter-species marriage would make the whole marriage system very boring. i like to see how the kids come out! heh.. i mean turn out! [e digicons]>_>[/e]

well i know you asked for fantasy based civs, however im a huge dune fan! ever read them? and as i consider dune to be much more of a scifi/fantasy as the tech tends to be very low key. plus all the strange and semi mystical abilities exhibited by the various factions. combat is usually done hand to hand due to the use of personal force fields and then theres the pesky lazer+shield=catastrophic BOOM!!! and space combat is virtually non existent. any hoo id love to do a full dune mod but am wo

the boondocks rule! so happy about the new episodes. further more adult swim rules over all! i have to agree with raven about tim and eric me no likey. it took me awhile to get into venture brothers jeffalford, give it time its freaking hilarious. adult swim has become the pet cemetery for all non kiddie cartoons. i just wish more stations would get a clue. WARNING: im about to veer dangerously off topic. i wish scifi channel would try picking up some canceled before their time scienc

Reply to Flooding in WOM Ideas

oh man! that sucks. not to long ago i was debating to flood the last city of altar or to destroy it with a volcano. glad i went with the volcano! though as you noted this, to my disappointment, did not obliterate the whole city. nor did it kill the units stationed inside. luckily i was still able to take the city.

very good idea! i was forced (hehe) just now to destroy the kingdom of capitar. in a brutal war which i started to prevent one of their pioneers from building a settlement over a shard near my own kingdom. now i wasnt really ready for war but i was not going to let them take that shard! your idea would have given me the perfect solution to deal with this.

the thing is is due to the random placement of starting points, starting resources and monster spawn points. im thinking the stardock crew wants us to have to set some different priorities than we would naturally pursue in the early game. when i start of with a spider nest i know i have to keep my sov near or at least a champion if i have one. then research adventuring, granted this doesn't guarantee survival. dont get me wrong i sympathize, some times even this is not enough. and is one reas

maybe this has been discussed else where, but here goes.. im not sure i like having to hit the turn button after moving all my units only to have ai move or attack then repeat. id much rather there were continuous turns based on something like initiative or mabey combat speed, per unit. only example i can think of right now would be final fantasy tactics. i think tactical battles would flow much better this way, plus make it more of a thought provoking process. the way it is now you can alway

hehe nice choice raven, though i prefer the tears of widows as a choice of baby dipping sauce (so many more years of sorrow to consume). ive smoked pot or years yadda yadda... seen friends fall to addiction yadda yadda... drugs can be bad. so can life, in the end we are all microbes living in mold on a dust ball orbiting a slowly dying spark. my point being in the end were all going to be so much dust. if i want to smoke some sublime sensimilia. i fail to see how that effects any one

a bit off topic form the current magic debate, is it possible for a enemy unit to raze a resource tile that is not directly attached to a city? i saw its possible to lose a city this way but what about a resource tile with in your influence. if so, can we assign a unit to protect it? maybe even fortify it?

oh no, cant forget the kender lol. which brings me to my question whos gonna be the kender sov? (mostly joking) but seriously, how do you plan on handling sovs? will all the companions be sovs? or recruit-able npcs? not sure what you were thinking on that. seems like it would fit for some of them but not all of them. im thinking the golden general (Laurana sp?) should be a sov. as she seemed to be the signifigant military leader of the group though thats debatable. ok, ok i just think

it does seem a little frantic at first, but now that i think about it. i kind of like it that way. super excited about acquiring resources with in a cities territory, instead of right next to it. was just wondering, will there be people wandering back and forth between cities and resources? im the type to zoom in and say heh.. theres my people workin away... [e digicons][/e] also, i agree with stmorpheus about the special unit buildings. i still want to see them

maybe a cities prestige could be affected as well. i may be rather slow to go home if my city kept getting sacked by monsters.. [e digicons]>_>[/e]

Great idea! but what happens if your city is undefended, or your defenders are killed in the attack? should these monsters be able to occupy the town for a while, or stay put until driven out? i think there should be some damaging affect the to the city its self during the raid. perhaps generated randomly, a city tile is destroyed. maybe a loss to money, materials, or people?

when i play i usually am zoomed out to the point just before it goes to cloth map. using cloth map for an over veiw or to scroll quickly (or to gloat over the sweetness of my kingdom). so id say id prefer the units to scale down as i zoom, so i can still see them.

OOoooo good idea dryman! though im not sure if frogboy and co are dead set on having the shard specific books or not. your idea seems to solve many issues people (including me) have with the shards and having to have the corresponding books. maybe there could be a way to research the shard specific books as more of a mid magic tree tech. either way, shards would still be of strategic importance, gotta collect them all! if for no other reason than to keep em from my enemies.. man i can
