From whats been posted it sounds like the "value" assigned to a particular tech or item is decided at compile time and not based on run time evaluation. Given this, I expected that the AI is going to pretty much ignore changes or additions from mods.

There is no spell or tech research in the campaign. The "real game" is the sandbox mode, the campaign is more like an intro to the world.
Considering whole 'we have no DRM!!' thing Brad was running here, this is totally believable. This IS yet another DRM. It is/will be a multi player game. Obviously a hacked executable could be a serious problem in that context.
It seems that any time I summon a unit it is unable to cast tactical spells. Specifically with the Vigilant Demon and Fire Giant are missing their tactical abilities. From other forum posts it seems that others have functioning casters, and the AI is able to use these abilities. It shouldn't need visual c++ 2005, but probably needs the C Run time... 1925 is a permissions error. More than likely you are not trying to install the game as an administrator, its odd that the game installed at all though. If UAC didn't come up when you tried to install it, you can try right clicking and choosing run as administrator.
