I think the probability of civil war could be determined by distance from the so-called capital city (first city placed on map) or perhaps the location of the heirs, etc. Probably all a pipe dream, but for gods sakes, at least let a heir inherent the kingdom if the Sovereign dies (which could be another kingdm if that heir is married to a male from another kingdom). Now that would be a good chance for civil war. Besides lines of succession for a fallen Sovereign (if it worked that is)

Yea, this would increase depth quite significantly from a storyline perspective. Dsraider, some good ideas too.
Quick question. Although I have been involved in the beta play as well as having played extensively since release, I'm a bit confused by Dynasties. It would seem to me that if I kill an enemy Sovereign outside of their territory, the heirs should assume the throne. Instead, the whole empire (or kingdom) crumbles. I know I've seen posts like this before. Is this meant to be like this? Because it would seem the whole Dynasty system doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot if it is. &n
I feel some man love happening. lol Great update!
I think this would make the Dynasty system much more useful (I haven't seen much of a use for it so far). I know it kind of a reach, but imagine the death of the Sovereign and then perhaps the potential for an event that creates a fight for succession (if the heir apparent didn't have the necessary traits or something). That could be pretty immersive.
I've been banished as a fanboy for appreciating this game so I won't say much. However, I will say I'm still on patch 1.05 because I don't want to lose my save game I currently have, which is a massive battle between myself and Yithril where are adjacent cities were 2400+ and 1600+ defense respectively. We've been SLUGGING it out. AI needs improvement, that's for sure, but this has been pretty darn fun. It's been great fun, needs to be a bit more magicky (if that's a wor

Fanboy is a label which describes a particular stereotypical person. If they fit the stereotype then it is perfectly normal to call them by that label! And the person in question certainly fits the label, we are meant to ignore the fact that the game mechanics are

My God, does anyone appreciate the fact SD created a PC game rather than follow the console route. Have we become that shallow and selfish that what they are trying to do (and will succeed) is not good enough? When have we last saw a game like this? Krool

Maybe on purpose, maybe not. Just goes to prove that on the internet everyone becomes an expert. Its very sickening actually.

LOL, after reading so many posts, I've come to the conclusion the Internets (lol) makes everyone a developer! Oh the anonymous nature of the Internets, please tell me this is how we act in real life?!?!
I haven't even managed to put in the last patch, don't want to lose my current game. I've got a massive war against Yithril that I'm not about to give up on for a patch! We have been slugging it out, although I think the AI is starting to show some need for improvement with my massive onslaught. At one point I had a city with 2300+ defense and Yithril hand about 1400+, but was reluctant to move forward until i finally built three large stacks, and Yithril moved in another one. It was fun, fun

This may be a bit off topic, but I got to thinking I'd like to see Logistics not be such an early choice. Seems to drive the pacing upwards quickly, and can make single units unviable in just four turns after getting research fired up.

Like the idea, but what I would like to see is that the quest marker is not visible if hidden by FOW. Then you are really questing since you need to identify the location via LOS.
There is a report about this already. Wait until the background animation moves to the city and then try. Seems there is an issue loading a saved game right away for some people.
I have the same issue with all of my saves. I'll try the wait thing. EDIT: Yep waiting until the background animation went through allows me to load the game. weird.
lol Stmorpheus.... Somewhere in some strange land the forum Gods are laughing their asses off. and agreed.
This may be a long shot, but I was having the same problem and when I turned off Advanced Lighting (due to an Nvidia driver bug reported earlier), it stopped happening. Yes, I see there is a user with an ATI card, but all I know is once I turned off Advanced Lighting, I could no longer reproduce the crash. Can someone else who is experiencing this problem turn it off and see if that helps. I'm very curious.
Can you elaborate more on the 'armies are not stacks' thing? If the units have slightly different weapon/armor loadouts, do they add to the power of the army?
I was a bit confused by this as well.
OK, Hegomony is actually quite interesting. I may restart my game after learning a few things. It's not a walk in the park, that's for sure. Quite challenging. And I did see some Paeonians fighting some troops of Western Ordycian Kingdom, although I don't know the extent of the fighting outside of my live area (likely none). Krool
