sovreign and champions don't need the resource only the tech researched. If you want to make regular troops on horses you need the resource.

you can build troops with more moves if you want the option to move more.
I don't think it's that boring but I wonder why there are so few cover tiles. The mechanic exists for terrain to alter defense both positivly and negativly but there are only a few tactical maps. If there was more of this it would improve tactical combat in my opinion.
When I mean grow I mean they should level up their cities. They should not expand because they are minor factions. But I also think they should be powerful so they are hard to defeat. Maybe even get a prestige bonus so the city level gets better faster.
How about a simpler solution to this question. I would like to see an item maybe a cloak that is only available to troops not champions. that alows them to ignore the influence boarder but doesn't alow them to use weapons when it is equipped or to join a stack. then you could 'spy' on your neighbours as well as better explore the map.
I think it would be more interesting if minor kingdoms not just grew but grew faster. So they could be powerful city-states that wheren't interested in expanding. I also think that they shoud have random mercenary tiles. a chance for any diplo merc. spider, drath, ogre, dragon or whatever.
Yes I agree the A.I. is weak with transports and colonizing with transports is much safer then doing it over land.
This is a stratagy game and part of stratagy is having to adapt to you situation. If you start with little rescources you are going to have to expand. Spam small towns and start wars. If you have lots of rescources then you can build your large city and have your small kingdom. It can work. You should keep in mind prestige if you want to do it. Start your Sovereign as royalty. because it takes a long time to get 1250 population.
You can turn the grid on in options to better get a grip on this resource problem. Also since rescources are global you can make a tiny village just to get a rescource if you can't expand far enough. you don't have to build up every town to the max. I usually have a few max towns with smaller connecting towns.
This has happened to me twice. I marry another faction hero bring them over to my side and along the way. I don't know how or why I end up with a duplicate of them. Has anyone had the same thing happen to them?
The Soldiers Cloak costs more in gold to make then the Cloak of Thwarting so if you have magic resources you can keep the cost of the unit down I'd say that one is a fairly balanced one.
I know there have been posts about this before but I haven't seen many specific complaints about this. I was wondering if there was a list somewhere. I have noticed a couple that I will list. maybe others are interested in adding some -Unit design- Traveling cloak and journyman cloak cost the same but the journyman cloak has +1 sight and move while the travelling cloak only has +1 move. -Unit desig
doesn't anyone know that children regenerate mana every turn in tactical combat. You can use this to get mana back for them pretty easily.
Offspring regen health and mana in tactical battle
right now damage spells are not that great although area ones are pretty good. but if you use your research to get the support spells magic is quite powerful. I'm talking about deflect, heal and confuse. to name a few. and if you go up really high level you can get erthquake and flood
