Wow, of all the postings only one individual posted a cheer for being in the Alpha.
I didn't actually see anyone post that they were in.. who're you talking about?
sometimes you can even misspell it "kyro"
He took the IRC pinger off kyro :( So you actually have to spell it right! :P
Spare some pity for the poor guy at Stardock who gets to check and countersign 100 contracts all at once. (contracts like these need to be signed by both parties to be valid under US law too, right?)
Yes, and that would be Yarlen. :D
I am leaning towards beta 1 being only cloth map in order to let beta testers have more input on the game mechanics (fewer assets to change if we accept a suggestion).
I think that's a good idea all around. Inevitably beta testers will disagree with and/or have suggestions on mechanics, and it will be handy to be able to change them around more easily. If you're closing the beta for a few months, does that mean you've settled on a longer development schedule?</p

It's not IRC gossip so much as that's what his role has been during the Sins and Demigod betas. I did joke about it on IRC and he commented on how fun that will be, so I'm assuming his role is not going to be changing.
I think a better option might be to continue with the February release date beta cycle, then around December evaluate and at that point ask "Can we release the game that we want in two months?"
It doesn't really work that way, though. If you're planning on a February release, you need to have a feature list that you know you can do by then. The issue is that with that February release, that feature list may not be as extensive and "awesome" as if the game was slated fo

Kryo will be the bug/issue tracking system. He'll be sifting through the forums and have a locked running thread constantly updated with unique reported bugs and other issues.

I'm definitely in favor of "release when it's ready" philosophy. If you have no financial (or other) obligation to release in February, and you don't feel that it would be as feature complete as you'd like in February, by all means delay it. Elemental is a game the like of which has not been released for a long, long time. A lot of people, myself included, have been waiting for a game like this also for a long, long time. It is well worth taking the time to make it an amazing
Is the alpha still planned to be cloth map only?
Yes, I asked Boogie about it on IRC a little while ago.
Can you get into the Alpha by preordering?
You need to have it preordered to be eligible, but the alpha is only going to have about 100 people in it. Everyone will get in for beta in September, though.

The PvPvE mechanic is quite new, as well. For example, take a look at this: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-discussion/20946-patch-notes-v1-5-update-shadow-balaur.html#post518431 There's actually an instanced dungeon where an Elyos group and an Asmodean group can enter at the same time and compete to get to the end boss, while trying to screw eac

Disabling DEP should work, as it's the only thing preventing it from launching. If you're still getting an exception when you start it, then you didn't disable DEP correctly ;)

I liked the movie overall. The ending was cheesy, but the meat of the movie was interesting. ;)
Just because the economic system is simplified doesn't mean domestic management won't be engaging...streamlining economics was done to prevent tedium, not to de-emphasize the importance of a strong imperial backbone. That, and shareholders, who more often than not definitely are not gamers and just rich guys in suits that hear the word piracy and get all panicky. Really, the biggest reason Stardock can do what they do is because they're private and the Frog calls all the shots. If they were public, the stock holders would have a say and it all goes downhill from there. And hey, most of these publishers are public. :P

Haha. Well, at least I wasn't in Goonfleet :P That's where most of the trouble is, their horse is a bit too high in general. Goons were on good terms with TCF for a while in Curse while I was playing, we'd use their stations and jump bridges while we were locking BoB into their home region..
And buying games from vendors that don't have their own outlet (or only have a crappy outlet) from Impulse makes perfect sense, as a result. Here's my confusion: if you buy a Paradox game through Impulse, there's only so much Stardock support's going to be able to do for you. Ultimately, the care and feeding of that game is in the hands of the publisher and developer of the game. So by purchasing it through Impulse you've created a multi-level support issue where sometimes you're going
