Well, it's also not uncommon to have a day0 patch these days, either. The Gold build would be a fully playable game of course, but they'd also get 3 extra weeks after that on additional polish for day0. Sort of a necessary evil trend because the manufacturing time necessitates something being on disk that far out from actual release.
Also, one unrelated question that I keep forgetting to ask but always try to figure out in the game... Is there a way to move items between champions (and the sovereign)?
Drag item from the items list at the bottom over the portrait of who you want to get it.
It's getting close to the time to start heavily considering polish. Where most of the current UI is mostly functional, the Empire Tree is still too basic and lackluster, and not mentioned in Frogboy's newest dev journal on polish issues. The Empire Tree itself is a great concept, but it's the implementation that makes its addition good or bad. The Empire Tree in Sins was pretty fantastic, even for all its technical limitations, because the user was allowed a high degree of control ove
Another thing I would add to this list is the Very Important Empire Tree. The Empire Tree itself is a great concept, but it's the implementation that makes its addition good or bad. The Empire Tree in Sins was pretty fantastic, even for all its technical limitations, because the user was allowed a high degree of control over it. Same needs to be true for Elemental.
Okay, I see you're completely lost.
Not at all, and unless they extended the coupon promotion, your complaining in this thread instead of just cancelling and re-ordering already cost you the 15% off. Congratulations :)
And yes, I could go through the process of canceling and reordering. But should I have to, if Stardock is such a great company?
Uh, yes you should. How in the world would they know what people want to spend their 15% on? They're just offering it off on everything, and people don't just buy Elemental from the store. Get off the high horse and re-order it if you want the 15% off it, stop complaining over something that's entirely in your power to do as if it isn't.

If you've preordered and have beta access, obviously you've already paid and the coupon can do nothing. If you've preordered but waiting for Beta 3, you can always email to cancel your pre-order, and do it again with the coupon code. This only works if it hasn't been processed yet, though.

Nope. Just for new purchases.
Wait, it's out? I haven't heard anything about it for a while now.
The game is available on impulse so the cd check must have been removed at some point.
How are the two related? Impulse doesn't only sell DRM-free games.

Oh I didn't mean to say that you'll control each person individually. You can already train a "stack" that counts as one unit but has multiple guys in it, I fully expect that to carry over to the tactical combat. It's just that visually you'll have everyone on screen.
I hope so, at least I think they were going to release one. There sure are a lot of CGI trailers for it. Supposedly they ran into some legal trouble though.
The legal trailer was with the trailer itself, I believe. I don't remember it having anything to do with the actual game.
Thanks for the info. Sounds good. I might just pick it up this weekend.
Just so you're aware, on Tuesday (the launch day) for the game, there was a guy on the #stardock IRC asking if anyone had the PC version to play with, and said at that time there were around 500 people online. I don't have the PC version myself, so I don't know how much that number has gone up (though I'm certain it has), but multiplayer population is something to consider since consoles should get
I heard they are releasing a new title in the MechWarrior series? Just base rumour or is there some truth to it?
It's not a rumor, however past the initial announcement of the game, we haven't heard anything about it (other than them getting sued because the Teaser Trailer they released with the announcement apparently resembled RoboTech too much). http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1002275p1.
There is, but given that it's a straight port it's basically identical to the console version as far as I'm aware.

Oh, I read Hortz' threads, just didn't click right away. Good laughs on IRC were had reading those.
The game is definitely consolized as a shooter, in terms of having bigger models and bigger crosshairs for easier aiming with a controller. It definitely respects the Transformers cartoon roots (they again have the original Optimus voice actor!). And it is also pretty polished, visually and technically. As far as Multiplayer, it borrows from many popular games, which makes it pretty good. Firstly, the Campaign can be played fully in co-op with several people (3 characters per mission
http://news.bigdownload.com/photos/elemental-war-of-magic-1/1136945/#1136945 Yep. It definitely looks a lot better overall. Some things can be moved around of course, like the minimap going up top or something, but if I was going to make a UI suggestion, it would just be "Make it *that*." Why's it funny I should bring up King's Bounty? I mainly did it because I remember having a forum de
A happiness system is only good if it's implemented well. The only game I can think of that did it decently well is Dawn of Discovery. In it, the people only complain and leave your city if their basic essentials aren't met, like food and drink. But if you wanted the houses to upgrade, you had to make sure everything they wanted was in abundant supply (usually 90%+ satisfied for most things). This gave you a pretty big huge window where everything was okay. Arbitrary "this building adds 2 hap
You don't need to do anything special. As long as you've preordered, when Beta 3 rolls out they'll feed their hamsters appropriate amounts of crack to be able to run the wheels fast enough to power the pre-order processing computers and they'll just empty the preorder queue which automatically sends out emails and registers the games for everyone who pre-ordered.
