At first I was a little aggitated that he was so close, so I tried to take advantage and rush him. How is an Earth elemental (att:92 def: 11) on turn 10? And the king is level 4? I just made the first pioneer!!!! (I am sure it is around turn 10, but is there anyway to tell exactly what turn it is?)
nOObonian
Anyone know exact name, just want to be sure I am doing right one...
I think I rush researched the quest area to quick....all the quests show level 3 and I am level 1, so I can't do any of them.
Anyone ran into this in 1.01? I'm level 5 and I go into a quest area and the window says (your current notable location level is 1, and this location requires a minimum level of 3. Your level can be raised (then it is cut off so you can't see the rest). Is this a bug because I am level 5 OR is this because I have to complete some chain quests and need to do level 1 then level 2 quest before I can do this level 3?
hmmm, this would imply a sovereign with high armor is almost unstoppable...
So a major competitor of mine is moving in. I have grouped and experienced archers, but his sovereign has high armor. So I plan on getting him with magic. the encounter goes well, except that I "miss" with the fireball no less than five times in a row. Luckily the archers could hit him once he got close (not sure if I understand the mechanics of that, but best not to look a gift horse in the mouth). Any idea why a fireball would miss t
Yea, I"ll get a save game going but at work right now. Be home around 6pm EST.
I selected warfare and logistics was just gone. I advanced two more level and it still never appeared. I also can't make groups of archers at a town, only single units. When I get home, I'll get some screen shots. BUT at least it's not supposed to happen, that is good news.
Are you playing good or evil? I've noticed that logistics is an option for good races. Evil also get it but under a different name
Good. I saw logistics when I was getting archery up. Just surprised that it was gone later.
I was trying to create groups of archers, once I got to advanced archery (warefare level 5) I went to research logistics to make groups, but it is gone. There was no scroll bar. I didn’t research it and it’s not a choice, what happened? Is it randomly available? Is this a bug or is this intended?
DOH!!!![e digicons]8C[/e]
Was trying to get groups of archers. So I researched warefare up to get to advanced archery and I made it (w00t). BUT when I go back to research warfare again, logistics isn't there (which makes it possible to make groups of 3 and more). I understand that everytime you research one of the 5 main research groups it gets harder, but I didn't know you loose a chance to get technology. Is this intended? If you go past a few research levels do you miss your chance
yep. As you expand and build more cities, you need to found more cities next to food to keep it going.
finally learned to summon a fire giant (w00t), BUT it costs 16 mana and I only have 11. Everytime I have leveled up I have put points into intelligence which is up to 17. Is there any other way to raise mana so I can cast the fire giant spell?
Thanks on both counts
Does a shard outside of your school of study do anything for you? I know if I have fire spells,a fire shard doubles the damage. But what does a whater shard do if I have no water spells? What about the crystal crags, what do they do for you?
I don't think the Sovereigns should be demi-gods (in combat at least). they should get their asses kicked by 10 well trained knights/beasts in melee. What they should shine at is magic. From afar they should be able to burn, freeze, and shatter a group of ten men to their knees.
I second that. It's very very useful in GalCiv2 and it's even more important for these global resources. I would like to know how much food everyone is using and how much each city is producing, etc...
And some of us beta testers have it worse as we are unlearning and then learning again. For example, in Beta, you could build a farm from the city menu. Now we do it by clicking on the fertile land tile. This actually took me some time, and a post, to figure out and I was not alone. There are a few posts on here about how bad things are and how could Stardock have blown this…That’s all BS. I think everyone is frustrated because everything has to be figured
Are they 3rd level spells?
I haven't gotten too far in some games, but I was just wondering are there any Area of Effect damage spells (i.e. ones that effect creatures on a number of tiles, opposed to just a single tile). I thought I saw fireball in beta, but I thought that only got one target tile.
Ahh...thanks. So single archers are no good against armor until they can be done in groups. It might help to indicate that as something else (other than miss) like "glancing".
Thanks for the great responses. But I have a few questions. I just picked archer units to produce without "designing" them. Are they weaker? (they seem to miss a lot in combat). Does designing a unit make them stronger?
From Frogboy’s posts I wanted to try out some archers. I like the philosophy of killing your enemy before he gets to you. It took a number of tiers in weapons but I finally got them out. So my sovereign and three archers take on 4 spiders. I figure between my magic and arrows this should be cake. Every shot missed, until they were one tile away. I’d say about 12 shots in all. The spiders had a 3 armor or so (level 3 I think). The ques
