A quest for champions, unleashing a small problem on the kingdom: Don’t touch that sewer hatch: As a further development of the “rat-infested cellar” quest, the adventurers open a blocked entrance to the city sewers and go down to kill off some more rats, find some gold or save someone who has been captured and his held

Great idea from Stardock! Here some immortal characters with their names from our D&D campaigns - may these heroes live forever in the halls of fame! Paria (outcast): penalties to diplomacy; but you have connections in the underworld from your time as a persona non grata: you get 1 spy ability for free. This profession could be a very common background among these misunderstood, freaky chanellers! Castellan: big bonus on siege defense, smaller bonus for attacking keeps, defense bonus to any city sovereign is in. Court advisor: plus to wisdom, diplomatic bonus with all friendly civs. Stable master: automatic riding s

As long as there are default settings, a lot of variables shouldn't be a problem - you don't need to touch them. On the other hand, for the people who want to choose and change everything this is crucial for a game to live long and prosper ... Personally I would prefer as much customization as possible, also down to clothes, hair style and tattoo/scars on your pink/blue/grey/black skin. [e digicons]\o/[/e]

Gunpowder - no way! Over my dead body (please don't shoot!) Actually the issue has already been thoroughly discussed on the forum and a whole line of arguments presented for not including it in any official material (anacronism with castles and walls and swords being the first).
Quoting the Gorgon, reply 82 ...What I realised when thinking about e.g. the system in GC2 was that a "passive modifier" doesn't make the game more fun even when it is hugely important and influential in the game. Take for example the Federalist modifier in GC2 giving you +20% (or was it +15%??) bonus to economy. Hugely important, but the game isn't really any more fun to play and you never really t

I think the idea that two traits are combined into a third “more extreme” one is interesting but there are two drawbacks which I didn’t see mentioned: <span style="font-s

A lot of good ideas in the replies. I particularly like Wintersong's proposed talents and weaknesses, "Soul eater" is a great one. [e digicons]:dur:[/e] I also must agree with many of the first replies that just a small modifier like +1 hp or -1 strength isn't that exciting. In fact this is what you normally get in a game, so it would be really good if elemental could go one step further and use a system that you will actually remember afterwards. What I

Talents: Energy drainer: special attack in combat sucking out one experience level from hero (hp from monsters). Gaze of the Gorgon (this one was natural to include! [e digicons][/e] ): special attack once per combat with a chance of petrifying enemy. Charming kiss: once you have kissed your husband/wife (directly after mariage) he/she falls completely under your spell (and appears as a CHARMED champion that you can order about ...) Succubus/In

Great idea. Especially the fallen should have some inventive ways for living off the dead land ... Such a system would also fit very well to create a fantasy world where some civs tend to stay in certain regions instead of everyone just trying to grab as much fertile land as possible. Think dwarves living happily among arid mountains, elves never having to leave the deepest forests, and fishmen alxays staying close to the water.

Nice concept art! As for the story it does what it should, but presented like this it feels a bit like just another creation myth for a PC game (with novel annexed). But maybe when we get to know more ... Could you ever meet/resurrect/conjure a Titan in the game?

We always used hexes for our RPG DoD games. I've drawn any number of maps of strange lands on hexes. They rule. Much better than squares. Would be great if EWoM could include them.

Maybe a reason for SD to try and get EWoM out well before CivV is out ...!? Oh my god, art deco style, modding friendly and better diplomacy ... How many of their developers are on our forum!? [e digicons][/e] And look at the graphics, it looks beautiful.

Overall the game play sounds wonderful.
Quoting Tridus, reply 10... The spells now require a certain number of certain types of shards to cast (eg Fireball would require 10 mana and control of 1 fire shard, or some such). ... I'm still hoping that this particular change will be rescinded or substantially modified. This all sounds very good. Like the voice of reason actually. But now we know more about how citybuilding shouldn't be than how it will be ... What happens when you attack a city? I LOVE crazy battles where you have to break through the city walls and even better: its magical defenses. Please DO include turrets, mundane and magical, sniping at the enemy. How is a city impacted by the tile it is built on? defense bonuses? (I sure hope so). More/less food ... By th

Some comments on the faction pics and the little we know about the factions. (NB no comments are meant to flame anyone, they are just a point of view.) First, the art. Not bad at all, some of them are quite good. On the plus: the Mucha inspiration, the original style. On the minus side: some of the weapons are a bit too big, it takes away from the realism but most of all from the "class". Please don't fall into the Warhammer trap to thin

This sounds great! [e digicons]:)[/e] I also hope that the animations will be nice-looking enough so that you always want to see the effect of the spell and not just think about the game effect in numbers. What would be really cool is if you could find the Necronomicon through a difficult quest ... Just a small hint ... [e digicons];P[/e]

I like it - it has style, and doesn't lie about the game. It makes you dream about your future empire [e digicons]:dur:[/e] The worst would be if there were some kind of obscene demon or troll WoW/Warhammer style being sliced to dice by a semi-nude blondine in platemail that covers about 5% of her body. Another thing is that we know the pic above since quite some time already, so no surpise to get excited about.

I came to think of one particular thing that keeps repeating itself in most strategy games (like GC2) and which actually makes the early to mid game predictable, and the end game sometimes just boring. It is basically that the pecking order among the civs for going to war and when is always the same (due to the AI). When a civ starts getting really powerful militarily and economically what happens is that all the weaker civs are sure to leave it alone since it would be suicide to attack on yo

I also thought Porcupine ... Backstory seems fine enough, although I'm mostly interested in a really good sandbox mode. I reckon the backstory elements will not fix the sandbox mode too much, thanks to the many editors we have been promised. Ok for ten factions instead of twelve if you put more emphasis on the faction editor instead. Please let's have a superb faction editor, it will mean the game will live for so much longer.

This is so good, just what we want in Elemental! Not only are the pictures good, but you have managed to capture the creatures' movement / poisture very well, like for the Dire bear for example.
