I really like seeing that FE is going to be slightly less "civ" like, and more RPG-like. It really draws on the strengths of Elemental as a setting.

For the record, I love that you shared this with the community!
I think the focus of FE is a little less on diplomacy and traditional "Civ-esque" gameplay, is the feeling I am getting. And I like it.
My rig is fairly similar, I'm running Win 7 64 bit, core 7, and a gtx 455. I have no issues at all unless I do a lot of alt-tabbing.
Who is the talking camera guy?
awesome stuff again. very cool to see the evolution of all the animation work. Thanks!
Grats xmorg, really nifty concept!
the best partof watching Boogie animate is him acting out the animations
haha! Seriously though, really cool post. Don't often get to see much of the progress of animation in video game dev stuff like this.
A buddy of mine with a big apartment just bought HBO so he could watch it, and we are having a big gathering to watch it tomorrow and hopefully every night it comes on.
Glad to have frequent updates again, although I'm sure it's rough on you guys. Everything sounds good, keep it up! Still sad that Impulse is going to GameStop, but glad to know Elemental will march on unhindered.
I have completely stopped doing business with Gamestop because of how opposed I am to their business practices and the way they treat not only their customers, but their employees, as I have many friends that used to work for them. This really makes me sad, because I don't want to ever support Gamestop, but I want to support Brad.
This is real?... I'm really sad.
No word of this on Gamasutra, I'm calling April Fools.
This is great, and I'm curious if we will get another book as well? (I'd like another one even if it doesn't come with more DLC)
if some random traits would go on your son or doughter you would be my hero Derek
Yes, cause one thing Elemental needs is Pokemon-esque breeding system. Damnit! my son isn't the right nature! time to try again! ;) (I just bought Pokemon White, btdubs. loving it)
YES! Special Abilities! I have been asking for this for a while! To me Final Fantasy Tactics did this so right. Having lots of units and combinations of special abilities is what made the game so satisfying. Adding anything to do other than move and attack for units would be amazing.
Quoting Wintersong, reply 12Your.... wording about Elemental expansion packs is about to make some people explode (again). Just saying. Elemental: RPG. Now. Please? Who must I kill? Which country must I conquer? Knowing about it has been the best news I have had in the last weeks! (weeks in which the best thing has been to learn some Python 3.1.3 during breaks in the office so go figure) The Mod Layer sounds very interes
The difference between designing for 2D and 3D is astoudning. I took a 400 level game development course at my univeristy, and we had 3 teams. 2 teams decided to do 2D games, the remaining team wanted to do a 3D game. At the halfway though the semester part, my team had a 2D platformer, with 2 fairly long stages built and enemies moving around and all that good stuff. The other 2D team was also ahead of schedule wi
My only peeve is the tactical combat lacks real tactics. I wish there were more options for units to use. Defensive options Setting against charges options. Charging options. right now all most units can do is move and attack or just range attack. :/
OMG. I'm having hilarious images of a wizard with the ability to Summon Finland at will. The entire landmass.
Shadow World by unacomn My favorite of the whole set, my only concerns are that the "early" creatures do help mitigate enemy forces by bee-lining for them. Also, I would LOVE if the "last" creature was just a force of chaos, strongest, and completely un-aligned to the player and just ran amuk. Pariden’s Fury by G30ffnet Next favorite, I also loved the spell Chromatic Orb in ADnD days, and this fits the bill. Someth
Yeah, there are tons of "portals" and teleportations that go on in fantasy. LOTS of fantasy games have teleportation spells, like the Might and Magic series, and fantasy books, like Wheel of Time.
I'm 99% certain Brad has stated that with the new 1.1 patch there will be an updated PDF file of the manual.
Why would Stardock see some of Valve's trade-in action?
A lot of generic video game communities (GameFAQs, IGN, etc) are just filled with trolls, morons, or worse. You have to go into really niche places to avoid it in my experience. I visit a lot of video game music message boards, where it's people who really care about video games (so much so they listen to it's music on it's own!). I once stumbled upon a board for people who are huge fans of mecha-video games and anime, and they often discussed other genre's of games and
