I got it too. Did you happen to create a faction and make it empire? Thats happens only when I do that. I tested as premade factions and even made a kingdom but they all had tech trees.

If you have an ATI card with Windows 7 64-bit, make sure you have updated to the latest drivers. We have verified with AMD that the pre-July cards had a memory issue. YES!!!! updating driver now!!!
