ok if you actually played masters of magic that would mean your atleast 30
You realize older games still exist on this planet, right? That people can pick up old games and play them, no matter what their age is...?

So far it's interesting. There's a big problem, though - no tutorial, and a really lackluster manual. Hell, a day after the release and the manual already seems outdated. It would show options in it that aren't even in the game. I mean - they couldn't even update a manual for release? That seems really poorly managed to me. I'm trying to figure it out, though. I like the concept of the game - I just have no idea what I'm doing. I'm trying to figure it out as I'm going, but the

Right now, a 9. But it's still quite confusing to me. It's so big, that I easily get lost - and I'm playing with one star and 14 planets. I can't imagine how anyone keeps track of anything with bigger universe settings. I mean, really - once I have 3-4 planets I get confused as to what should be built where, and what's doing what... Hopefully I'll figure it all out. The real time thing makes it a lot harder, though.
There are almost always ships at every planet, how many determined by what it is, and if its colonised.6 scouts have the combined firepower of a pea-shooter. If the planet has 2 Heavy cruisers, then you can expect your scouts to be trashed. Even the combat frigate wont do so well, except in bigger numbers.Everyone varies as to starting tactics, but I build 2 scouts first off and have them find the nearer planets with manual direction, always jump again before they can sustain too much dam

Just a quick question here. I'm new to the game - started and quit about 2-3 games now, just kind of getting used to how everything works. One thing that I'm unsure about is combat. I'll send maybe 6 of those scout type ships and 1 of the slightly bigger ones (I don't know what they're all called right now) off to explore a planet, and when they get there, there's always some other ships always there. So I end up having to destroy them - and it seems to take forever. I'll have the
I remember reading years ago someone bought a Microsoft product, didn't agree to the EULA, and took it back to the store to demand a refund. They wouldn't give it to him. Microsoft did clearly state you could return it for a FULL refund if you disagreed, and eventually the store capitulated.Thing is though, it shouldn't be like that. It's not legally enforceable to say to someone "Okay, now you've bought this TV, you can only watch channels 3, 5 and 16." I once got into a debate with the
Marvin Kosh posted this in another thread:Navigate to My Documents\My Games\GC2Twilight\ and open the Prefs.ini file (it's text, so it'll open in Notepad).Under the Interface heading you should see a line like this:StripComponentsWhenUpgrading=0If it doesn't exist or the zero is a one, change it.Hope this helps
edit: Wait just a minute. I decided to try it again, just for the hell of it. This time I started a new game (before I loaded a save and tried it). Guess what? It
The option mentioned above is called 'Remove Functional Components...' and you can check/uncheck it to see the designs with/without engines/weapons/modules etc. Also, you may have to scroll down in the menu somewhat to see it...you may not even realize that you could scroll as it is hard to see. So...look to the right side and see if you have scroll arrows or a scroll bar.Secondly, there is a known issue in the auto-designer that allows it to create ships that exceed the space limits for
You may have to scroll down a bit, depending on the resolution at which you are playing. It's not very apparent that you can even scroll on some of the menus, but you might want to look to the right side of the screen and see if you have scroll bars or arrows. I didn't know it was there, until I read about it in the forum Hope this helps
I appreciate the help, but I don't think you get it ;) It's not there. This is a little frustrating. I'm playing the TotA expansion (decided to re-give the game a go, so I bought the newest version) and I'm messing around with upgrading ships. The problem is, all the functional components are all being removed when I enter the upgrade screen. I cannot for the life of me find an option to keep the components on, so that I can see what's already on the ship and simply upgrade as I feel necessary. There has to be a way to do this, but I'm just not finding it. I've

OK. I've got two questions here. Is there a screen somewhere that shows all of the bonuses that I'm getting? I can't find a place where all the numbers come together. I know there's the one screen that shows all your stats - like +10% Research, -5% Trade, etc, etc... But even factoring in those numbers, some of the numbers on my planet make no sense to me. So I'm wondering if there's somewhere that I can see exactly what's going into the Military/Social/Research fields on a planet?

Here's my scenario: I've just started the game from scratch. I quickly grabbed a class 10 planet that was just a few spaces away from Earth... So, now I've got two planets. Planet two has just the colony building on it. Earth has a factory and the Civ Capital building. I want to pump out ships as quickly as possible, but I also want to be doing research. So I can't set the military slider to 100%. So I've set it to 50%, 50%. Since I'm buying all my buildings for the start of

Hi! So by "no", do you actually mean "yes"? With no I mean NO. Populatin limit is defined by available food. You can have on a class-3 planet with 2 best farms 20B people forever, if you bring them there with transports. The only thing that will decrease their amount there is a approval below 21%. If that happens, 10% of them will move away, until approval will be again more than 20%. Well, if you

This is the most idiotic post I've seen on this board. Solution to all your bitching: Remove the check next to "Mega Events" in the game setup... Problem fixed.

Does PQ influence the maximium population? No, each PQ has it's own pop limit, to which the pop will GROW by itself, but above PQ-17 it is 100. Check Wiki under Rough numbers. BR, Iztok So by "no", do you actually mean "yes"? Because that's what it looks like. PQ does determine max population (well for Growth - you can transport extra peo

Maybe not focusing on a main objective is one of my big problems. I always research all over the place, and never really focus on a single place. So if I want to be a war monger, I should probably skip the diplomacy techs and what not - and build on fleet size, and weapons. I suppose I should probably look at the techs and decide what's even worth researching if my main goal is to kill everything in the galaxy (peace is boring to me in these games).

I'm trying to play on normal now, with the default settings, and 5 enemies... I just have one problem. I suck. I never know what to do. I always take research as the top priority - which leads to my planets being very empty, because I never know what to build on them, and I'm putting 70-80% of my funds into research. On top of that, I always forget to start trade routes, build a little army for protection, and things like that. My problem is, I just don't know how to h

What exactly is this Metaverse? The instructions don't say much, and the sticky info thing gives almost no information at all. I'm somewhat interested in it; but I really don't know anything about it. What are the rules? Do I have to use specific settings? A Race? Do I have to join some sort of specific metaverse galaxy, or is it an overall thing? What on Earth is it, and why should I play it?
