Main warship: medium+ hull, good speed (1 or 2 best engines), a bit more defences than your opponent's most common ship design has attack, rest weapons. Sub-variant (too kill escorted troop transports) has 3 engines. My medium hulls are usually my version of a small ship compared to my military. after i've won a war, I build a fleet filled with m
Azrune
I just use the flagship to explore, I only use scout and sensor ships to assist my military, and so other civs won't be able to luanch suprise attacks.
You know I never understood what the game ment by "specialized ships".
I usually sell the minor races as many techs as I can, since they never seem to declare war on me, and I'm usually content to let them be (except for the Snathi, those furry little buggers). You know what's weird, I usually supply the snathi with some military tech and I help them in wars, they're just so funny looking.
The devastation beam becomes available when you research beam weapon theory, but I think it might be lasers.
Yeah those ships suck big donkey balls, they probably only use half the space of the hull they're built on, and to top off there sucktastic-ness they all have only 1 speed.
The only time i've ever gotten into times like that are on the battle of gods scenerio, I build a super powerful ship, but I don't use it to get out of war, I use it to turn the tide and kick my enemys ass.
Those several moons and suns is probably a bug that occasionly happens, a lot of times my star bases will for some reason duplicate on the same spot, only a visual thing though so it doesn't really matter. Also the guys name is Alan Bradley.
This is probably a dumb question I know, but what do you mean by an external ship maker.
The topic of this forum must be a bad omen, after I got off the internet I played GalCiv2 and the AI didn't have any weapons on there warships!!! And even more annoying it was on regular games, not the campaign.
Erm, isn't this not one of those games though? Yeah but it's still a game.
Yeah dude you need to make your own ships, a lot of times my ships are so different looking that the hulls are only a place to put structures.
I never have a problem with random ship combat, as long as you design good enough ships and use good enough tactics, you can easily dominate the enemy, even if you have 10 good ships and the enemy has 100 better ships, tactics on the map prevail.
Try it and see if it is different for you -- shouldn't take more than 30 mins. Boy ain't it a bitch that just to load only 2 games it takes around 30 mins, for as powerfull as computers are they are so slow, that's why I mainly stick to consoles.
The AI gets harder to beat with each level, that's the differnce. On most video and computer games they don't tell you the exact bonus's the AI gets but it's obvious the AI gets harder to beat, your just the player you don't need to know how the games done just sit down, shut up and play the game.
I HATE the bobbing, I always end up puting to game speed to half the normal speed so I don't turn off the computer and go in another room.
Hell don't give up your techs make your allies work for it! They never give you techs, hell they didn't even research alliances to ally with you, and besides they ARE going to go bankrupt anyway, the AI always uses way to many ships. So make them pay, that money's going to be a lot better with you than them.
According to Brad, the campaign AI has been intentionally crippled so as to not be so difficult for new players as it was at release (since generally people will try the campaign first). I can understand that but, the tough or painfull ai building ships with no weapons is just stupid, I could understand that at cakewalk difficulty but tough or p
Leave the council, the stupid trade routes aren't worth the tax and module limit.
This slightly goes with relations and alliances, I wish that you could change the starting relations with other races, for example it would be cool if you had the drengin and yor at war with the arceans, humans, and altarians at the begining, for a more warlike game.
Great please continue.
4) The AI is relucant to come out of orbit to try to attrit my fleets. It's losing in detail this way. There might be a bit of tactic in staying in orbit, whenever I see one of my ships in orbit of my planets they seem to have a few extra points of attack.
That's probably because their diplomatic rating is significantly higher than yours... No it's my diplomatic is always the highest, but my point was that I don't want to have to spend a minute trying to scroll to the the best deal, since I have much more money than them.
Well why not just make peace with the Altarians and try to ally with them? It's obvious that if you keep fighting they're eventually destroy you.
Hands down, the best game example, that story rocked.
