I know now after posting my "gimme Beta 2 now before my heart explodes" post that beta 2 is 20 days off or so. But after realizing I have just posted to the top 10 threads in ideas and my name is on all the last post spots. and that atm I am spending my day forum trolling or opening impulse to see if this game needs updating >. That I feel I have really tested everything I can test. So I Humbly Beseech the Gods Frog and Boogie to push the release
I think that if anyone breaks a diplomatic deal -like declaring war on an ally -or attacking a neutral city while "just passing through" Your cities should get hit with a prestige penalty for 10-20 turns, so that if you keep acting decietful your people will start to migrate away. Of course,, you can always choose to kill them instead with Sacrificial ALtars ... :3 Anyways, point being that doing crappy t
Also, if new cities require materials, I'd find odd that the first city doesn't. Essence is, after all, just to bring the land to life and not to build cities... Just me being nitpicky. Except that, I like swapping city "DRM" (CBM?) from Essence to Materials.
Well this part is easy to fix. Just have all starting Sov's have just enough for the first city. Is it realistic no, is it lore centric no. But does it
I feel the need to comment here concerning some of the things froggy has said. While I can completely respect his stance. I have to admit the thing that will determine how long I play this game will not be the SP portion. I am not one of those people who has played Civ 1 or 2 for 5 years running. But it will be the "When my brother comes home on leave to visit" statement The one thing that has brought me back to MoO 2 for over a decade has been sitting down and playing
Phantom armies on the world screen would be so much fun lol.
Yeah the leveling thing seems a little weak atm. I also only put points in either Ess if I need more cities or HP's otherwise because those extra 10 HP's seem to make alot bigger difference than that + 1 to attack or combat speed.
As I posted in another post I think the balance here would be linking spell research to being in a city or even capitol city. Not only do spell points take X amount but each spell takes X amount of turns. This means that sov's that run around killing things will be combat strong while sov's that stay at home will be magic strong. Also if the construction of magic items took time inside a city with the approriate building. that would also help balance out the Exploring vs sitting
Requiring Spell Research to not only cost SP's but X amount of turns in city researching could be a way of slightly balancing things out. That way Galavanting soveriegns while more powerful will be magic weaker. Which if you think about it actually makes a kinda sense.
ATM essence cost to build a city, and later will be material costs, plus X amount of tiles between cities min that is still being worked out. Think it is 5 atm. Also with resources on a global scale vs a city scale it is alot easier to make a mistake and stop all city growth due to lack of food/housing atm. So unless you are like me and going to build balanced cities (As I absolutely hate specialty cities). You really need to know what you are doing and plan like chess as opposed
You know as for the illusion thing. If handled correctly that could be incrediable. Imagine before it goes to the battle screen you were asked if you wanted to create any illusionary forces. If you did they were placed when the regular forces were so your opponent didn't know what was illusionary or not. Lets say we make a companies of illusionary calvary. The enemy adjust his starting position to take into account the 4 companys, say putting his pikeman on his front
While I can definitely get behind this idea. I am worried that if carried to the Nth degree. I am not sure I want to sqaure off against a solely magic monster army. I would definitely support this idea if there were some limits in place to keep them rare and special instead of masses of magical shock troops.
Now not sure how doable or even desirable this would be, but after reading one of Tsaunke's posts (Hope I got your name right) I got to thinking that Our children should be different from our champions. Right now the Children my sovereign has just feels like champions I didn't have to recruit and it just doesn't feel right. I feel like they need to feel different from Champions, and different in a Lore/System way. I don't know just feels like there needs to be a bit more depth
While I like the idea of specialty weapons and armor. I beleive they should not only take the time and special resources like you said. But also require a special building for their manufacture, something like the enchantment foundry. And be limited to Sovereign/Champions. The idea of being able to build a legion in full Dragon Armor and Heartblades (Yeah the resource requirements would make this a virtual impossibilty probably but) to even be remotely feasiable just seems to e
ICE's (Iron Crown Enterprise) old 'Treasures of Middle-Earth' book had an interesting item, the 'Gift of Yavana' -- from that book "...white, green, and gold boots that cause 1 plant to spring fully mature from each footstep according to the wearer's desire..." (p49) -- fruit/nut trees, flowers, etc. Always liked that idea for a magic item. Anyhoo, the idea would be that a Sov would spread "life" (revive land) where h
And while I don't want multiplayer to be a focus, I can't help but think there's some really great potential here because of our game mechanics to have mods that let people replay Archon 1 and 2. If you don't know what Archon is, please say nothing as you'll give me liver spots. But on the main note............... Where is our Beta 2!!!!!! Seriously enough build up already my heart can't take much more.
LOLOLOLOLOL Wow I have to congratulate you. This is the best Bragging post I have ever seen. Now seriously if you are going to state we are going to go all Rodney King riots on your asses about what you have been holding back on us. I am pretty sure if anyone is STUPID enough to complain, the forum community as a whole will rise up, hack your systems, Find their homes, and beat them to death. I for one cannot wait and hope that what you deliver in Beta 2 lives up to th
oh ... uh.. think my heart just stopped.....[e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] WOOT!!!!! [e digicons]:smitten:[/e] [e digicons]:')[/e]
The Cake is a Lie!!!
You know the more I think about it..... I think the housing/food imbalance is being deliberately left in to help Froggy and Boogie make sure Beta isn't to much fun. I beleive it is a conspiracy to keep the Beta man down and miserable I beleive injustice is being perputrated at the highest levels to make sure we really really are greatful for Beta 3 &nbs
Yeah changing the SP for the MP is one of those things that frustrated the hell out of me in WoW (the MMO). The constant nerfs to my play for the PvP aspect that I didn't play and the constant screwing over of my fun for people who feel the need to kill others. Honestly it was a big contributer to why I don't play WoW anymore.
Okay I have a really silly silly question. If most Game designers know that SP Balance and MP balance are not inclusive. Why have more designers not Designed there game with a SP set of rules and a MP set of rules. Yes I understand that two set of rules would eat up time and money. Mabey require 2 sets of AI instructions. And Definitely might cause player confusion. But... Considering how endemic this problem is to the gaming industry as a whole. and considerin
Good observations but Froggy already said that you need to build too many houses to level up your city right now. I'm pretty sure they already know the balance is off but just haven't devoted the resources to really try to fix it yet. I think at this stage they are mainly trying to get to Beta 2 which means making the game stable and making sure the multiplayer is working.
While I am glad to hear that and I h
Doesn't multiclassing imply at the very least Semi-Static Class progression? And isn't our current Soveriegn design system designed to be completely open? Are you suggesting here the ability to increase starting traits when you level up? I.E. being able to add Hardy upon attaining a level even though you didn't pick it a Sovereign creation. While I would not be opposed to being able to add skills that would impact play in interesting ways during the game. I am defini
Depends on how you look at it John. First look at the ultimate goal and the way it is acheived. What is the Goal. To take a city without actually having to conquer it. What are the Ways. Cultural: Use of social pressure, changing the social landscape to where they want what you have in the way of lifestyle and goodies. This seems to be the model of most games that have a cultural domination in games goes. This unfortunately would include rel
