Same problem here. For me the problem only seems to be for Gilden golems. Gilden normal units are fine. Also, the unit I design (but can't train) in one game is actually showing up as trainable in another game.
I had the same problem. Firewall settings didn't seem to solve it. Tried re-installing and still didn't work. Tried re-installing after deleting both '...My Documents\My Games' and 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic' and it did work. I had heaps of crash reports in that later folder - maybe it was that?
