I do believe in intelligent lifeforms in our galaxy (we are proof it is possible), number of stars (and planets) is so big that there are multiple planets that have some life. But I do not believe in UFO on our tiny piece of rock, Sun is so common star in so average galaxy, here is nothing interesting, no reason to visit. Why somebody would go to middle of desert to look at anthill, when he has ants in his garden? At best we are watched by some automated probe, but to check if we are still al

Let me quote definition of computer backdoor, from http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/security/isglosry/index.html Backdoor is a general term for a malicious program that listens for commands on a certain network port. Most backdoors consist of a client component and a

Great news, Elemental already improved a lot since release state. As to run out of memory. I have Windows 7 system with 8gig of ram, and game runs out of memory around turn 400 or so, reloading latest autosave let it run for 100 or so more turns, then repeat. So I do not think its because game is allocating resources, for me it looks like some memory leak case. For that info panel that shows memory statistic would be appreciated, we could see when game gets close to crash. (maybe comm

I would not say that "it is great game" , but rather "this game will be great soon" . I left it waiting for last 3 months or so on purpose, and I need to say that I am not disappointed (unlike with its direct competitor), there is clear progress and in direction i like. Only thing it really suffers is boredom of late game, and tedious cleaning to get final victory. But this can be said about every civ like game out there.

Yes it is annoying. I just wait for it to happen then load latest autosave, it is usually 1-2 turns lost. I left Elemental for 3 months to let them polish it bit more and do not get myself frustrated. And currrent state of game is much better than at release, i love most of gameplay changes, in time they will fx all those annoyances, like oom. I am getting it as much as Aww Nuts desribed, with 8gb of ram. But game is playable, and i treat OOM as reminder or opportunity
I agree 100% with the OP. Elemental is a lot of fun to play and just keeps getting better every patch. Kudo's to Stardock for all the hardwork they've put into improving this game.
Same here, that is why i bought it despite it state month ago. So far I trust Stardock.

Both games are TBS, and both games are crashing late game on big maps. So at this field they are even. Civ has much better visuals, but pays for it with very long waiting for AI turn and insane hardware requirements as for TBS. While Elemental has not bad graphics (art style may be debatable but it is mater of taste), but elemental plays well on my laptop, nd i do not even dream of installing civ 5 here. IMO this also evens out. Pretty, slow and demanding vs not so pretty, but faster

Much less crashes now than before. However: I have 2 almost same setups: same ATI card, win 7 x64, intel quad core 4gb ram. Only difference is motherboard and CPU generation. I even copied game folder from old one (and was really happy it works without 2gb download). Game on old one crashes more than new one, but on new one i need to use hardware mouse cursor, because software one is flickering.

Before 1.08 one of AI had infinite debt bug, so he pumped out many troll packs and sent all on me. I really liked that situation, it was at least challenging. I liked it until first battle that took 45 minutes. My archers did 1-5 damage, i had 4 units with one caster (i used his mana to freeze trolls). Each animation of archer shooting lasts about 10 sec. Troll packs had 1000 sometimes 2000 hp for bigger group. Now imagine around 300 turns for one tactical battle. I could not

Yup 1.08 is great and has playable stability. If only mana was not randomly zeroed my army would be unstoppable, well it already is but i could make more fireworks on my way to victory.

I have feeling that such crashes occur when some events happen in game (or may be one too many event and memory is not freed so it crashes). So in addition to restart from old save do everything possible that different events pop on crashing turn.

Below size 2 settlement is an outpost, it needs 1 gold, 1 food and 1 material per turn to maintain it until it grows to size 2, then buildings start produce and that extra cost is removed. Capital is excluded from this rule. That extra cost could be multiplied by distance to capital and by number of towns below level 2.

This slow tactical battle for now is game breaking for me. And this is why: One AI got infinite debt bug, he is at -200k or so now. Because of that he can pump out endless armies, and that is reason i cannot lose even one unit or its game over. Only way to do it is to use ranged units + freeze spell. Fights are usually pack of trolls vs 4 mounted archer squads + 4 sovereigns . Problem is that recent troll groups have 1000hp, it takes about 45min to kill such pack with archers,
