I don't guarantee this will work but you could try this: 1) Install Elemental on one of your computers. 2) In the Impulse games list, right click Elemental and select Archive Application. This will create a backup of that game. 3) Over LAN or via external drive, put this backup on the other computers. 4) Unpack the backup. In the past this would have worked fine. Whether or not it will with Elemental is an unknown at the moment. I suppose once its relea

I'm in agreement for the idea of a 'skippable' deployment phase. For small armies that you don't mind sacrificing the hassle of full deployment seems redundant but for a large force sent against an enemy city led by your sovereign, strategic deployment could be the difference between winning and losing. Of course, if this was implemented, it would raise the question of who deploys first? Does the attacker retain his advantage by deploying second, thus respondi
After moving my sovereign, the game crashed to the desktop. Debug .zip file is linked below. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8736957/Elemental0_805-2010-07-04T12-10-49-884.zip
Sadly GW are very, very protective of their IP's and tend to sling C&D orders on a lot of fan based work (there have been several fan-made 40K movies that will never see the light of day!). Any TT simulators will be firmly in their sights as they would be in direct competition to the actual TT games themselves (and would thus lose GW money). To make matters worse, the prices for their products are extraordinarily high these days, making it difficult for those ppl
At the moment, I think ATI have the upper hand in terms of cards. There latest range (HD5xxx) is DX11, as you pointed out, and generally speaking the drivers tend to be OK as long as you are just using a single card setup (at least in my experience). Having said that, the number of games on the market that make use of DX11 at the moment is quite limited at the moment and while Eyefinity is a nice feature, multiple monitors will be expensive and there are a few other snags with getting it work
I'll answer point 2 first. You can't play the role of the EDF during the single player campaign. For the campaign you take the role of Alex Mercer, an individual who recently moved to Mars whose brother was then killed by the EDF. Unsurprisingly he then joins the Red Faction. During multiplayer, however, you can choose to play as an EDF character, although this is a purely cosmetic difference. The multiplayer experience isn't changed by the skin you choose to play wit
I'd also suggest you have a read of this interview with Brad. He details some interesting ideas concerning family ties within the game. http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1201
Looking at your reading list, multi-book series seem to something your into. I'd suggest looking for The Saga of Seven Suns series by Kevin J Anderson here . While not sci-fi and certainly not fitting into the high fantasy that you said you've read, I can also recommend the The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Look <a title="http://
I just hope that this is more stable with X-Fire than the previous Catalyst attempts. One has not been amused with them [e digicons]#:([/e]
As long as I can have a dragon snack on my opponents army then all is well [e digicons]:P[/e]
Hmmmmm..... interesting concept. I'm not sure how well this would fit into Elemental though. You would essentially be having to trust some individual to be impartial in all things. What would there be in place to stop the overseer/DM/GM from favoring a given player in multiplayer, or from just setting out to screw over all player? I also don't think it would fit well due to the length of time that some of these Elemetal games. I've not seen any mention yet of how long a game could las
The thought of having proper 3D in games is always going to be a big attraction as its the next major step in making games more immersive. However, I don't see Stardock doing anything to optimise this feature in game as it would be a waste of their time, mainly due to the lack of users out there. I can't there are many people who want to/already have spent a large chunck of cash on upgrading to a 120Hz monitor plus paying out for the glasses and possibly the graphics card is they currently us
