You know, if I wanted the money I sure wouldn't be telling the whole world that I stole it. I'd just quietly keep copying info and using it. Then none of us would know unless we keep track of our accounts. They say who they are often enough it seems that the odds of finding them would increase. Then how would they use their money? (probably working for the Feds) I wonder if this makes an impression on the National Debt.

Hum. With the exception of Apple, who pulled it off well, I am always suspicious of a software developer going into branded hardware (is that thing hardware?) business. In the old days something always gave out in the long run. Did it say if you could load some other OS on the thing? Maybe Linux, or perhaps Win 7? Even that thing still doesn't have me convinced to move to Win 8. Waiting for the prices and reviews.

Did that. Gives me names all the time. Don't want that. Want names only if you hover and only the one icon. The "as Names" part before gave you names only - no picture. It got confused when I was going through and checking things, it gave me the same names as the bottom one.

OK, here's one for you. There used to be two settings with icon names on a dock. More specifically a tabbed dock, but I think also a zoom type. The settings were that all icons had names all of the time, and icons only had names when you hovered over them with your mouse. (the ol' "what's that program, oh yeah" routine) Now, all icons all of the time is still there. I can't for the life of me find a way to turn on the text only when I hover over the icon. Ideas anyone? O

Gotta tell Notepad ++ what you are editing so that it gets the right colors. Saving after you start helps, or if you are crazy like me I tell it what I want to be - it's under Language.

In my area we have an amateur photography club (and we are a small population) They meet monthly, have photo shoots, enter things with a state/regional photo club, go to seminars. yeah, try it with shaky hands. dumb thing always scrolls up (thus the argument for any other program) I wonder how a handicapped person can use some of this software. Your comment about Pentium 4 makes me giggle. My desktop is a P4 and my 2002 server is P90 (with something like a screaming 126 memory) The desktop was best of it's class when I got it, I have a matching laptop in a drawer. It served me well. Currently the P4 serves as a surveillance cam server, which suits it well.

Speed Dial isn't for everyone that is for sure. And the one version is the only that is multi-page and configurable. The rest are about the same, mostly one page. You've touched on a couple things that seem to be there no matter. If the words on the tabs end with ... then the only thing to do is to drag the tabs (dock) bigger. I do wish we could stack the tabs (or if we can I've not figured it out) There are a couple other cosmetic things that are simply "there". I just remember the positions and sometimes the colors of the tabs I need, or the group when I click on the tab (wrong group, next one over) You will find that you will learn that quic

I'm a visual person and I can't see very well. The Speed Dial type of system gives me pictures of the pages themselves, or I can use just an image of a detail (like the WC lizard) then I know what it is. My "I don't know where to put this link" page has 30 very little squares. Once in a while I go through them and toss them into a better category. I think that 12 (4x3) is the default. My default is 5x6. I haven't found yet a program that I can have as many pages as I would like and also make it as many little squares. You also can skin it as it is. Did anyone mention a UPS or better yet a line conditioner? Power brown-outs and drops will do misery to a machine. You can check it quick by moving it to where the proper machine lives and see if it continues. Pity anyone who lives in London during the next few months, the power irregularities will be horrible. I won't do without my line conditioner and it's reassuring "click" that indicates it is turning on. On one circuit the UPS often clicks as well, that circuit is a mess.

Argh Firefox, it's pretending to be Windows 8. It has a pseudo Speed Dial that is 3x3 and I can't see any way to adjust. I use the REAL Speed Dial with 10 tabs and some with 30 squares. They are going to tell me I only need nine squares? Oh sigh, Firefox what did you have to betray your very core.

I don't got money for a new PC, so it don't matter much to me. Now if it was $14.99 INCLUDING the new PC, then I might consider. Heck, I might even use it if it included a new PC. With enough RAM. With a good video card. With a big enough hard drive. Naw. Win 7 box looks like it has gone through h**** with its missing and worn off keys and grumpy drives, but I know what it will do in any situation.
