On the server it does a scheduled scan. It is no longer hosting my private web site and it is primarily used for files. Slowly I am gleaning all the "good" files off of the server, my web cam server (old Dell desktop - reliable little bugger) and two laptops. 1.5 TB portable drive is big enough to hold all the goodies from all of them. I remember that one reason I chose it was for its small footprint. It is also religious about auto-updating. I run AVG on the Dell but I find it takes up a lot

I wondered about that. Do they mean when you download a file or run a file they will not scan? So it is needed to right-click (I suppose) and run the program on the file? With all the scare about viruses, worms, and such that eat your computer I was thinking of something that would reinforce what I already have (which is MS)

I fired up my Windows 2003 Small Business Server the other day (finally got a hub so I had a wire for it) and discovered that years ago when I last used it I had installed ClamWin AV. Well, I decided to snoop around to see why I was using it, besides it being free for a server, and it seems to have good marks. I found it interesting that it says it will run side-by-side with any of several AV products. Why alongside of another - isn't one enough? Has anyone even heard of/use

I edit mine. There might be on the skin you are using a place for height on the window you are using. Turn on advanced when choosing a skin. The skin I'm using most recent I'm using the calendar widened a tad and the events widened to match it and made 500 long. I put them one under the other. If the file is a modern one, it uses the same trick as Wincustomize files - it is a zip file in disguise. This way you can tinker with it yourself. <img src="http:

Just getting back to that. The fish are nice. I only wanted three of them but the farkles are cool. Good design once I figured out that everything is in the tray. Took me forever to right click the little fish there to get options. I also installed one of the packages in the wrong place and tried to hack it to get it right when it had corrected itself when I moved it and all it needed was a restart. I do that sometimes. It always works but there was an easier way. Anyway. Nice fishies

I got my aquarium to download. I used Internet Explorer, it worked fine. Now, why did Firefox work for downloads last week but not this week? Perhaps another of their famous updates? I didn't add or remove any plugins. Or was there any change on the server end?

Now I have Aquarium on my list. Click Download - file not found Click Aquarium Fish Pack #3 which I downloaded last week - file not found Click Control Center (Legacy), it offers to download just fine. Click WindowFX 5 and it would work, WindowFX 5 Beta is file not found Click Stardock Central and is would download It's not a program that Startdock Central would install apparently none of the skins are. Now what

Why in other things I get the working cart but this I don't. I'm logged in where the individual items is, press purchase, and I get the cart with stuff. Then I press how I want to pay and everything flies smoothly. This one doesn't pass the variable that says I am logged on. Really pain in the tail to sign on then go to purchase screen - what if I was just checking my cart? Still say it isn't right but at least lit let me purchase something. I could document with screen

Don't forget that if you do shun online storage and use some type of in-house solution, make a copy to be stored off site or invest in some type of fireproof container (and leave it by an outside wall so you can find it after the fire) It's not worth it to be grabbing all your goodies if the house is on fire. And if you are not there when it is then what? Back it up and store it off site. Rotate through your media.

Disclaimer: I have never, ever bought Master items from the gallery. I have a couple of free fishys, a brown clown fish and a neon tetra, that I love dearly. They simply swim back and forth. After investigation it seems that the only really nice fish cost money. I'm on a fixed income and so I save up to get said fishes. First I buy the fishys at: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/premium_themes/21/ They purch

I'm not sure if you are flat silly to dual boot Win 8 or very, very brave to risk Yrag writing you a private message about how silly you are. (polite writing mode on)

It's interesting reading people's comparison of the internet with actual physical things. Books, hard drives, media is not the internet. It does not even begin to be the same rules and the internet. The internet within itself is pretty much a science project or theory. No, don't look at me that way. Then we get the hard drives, raid, back ups. Guess what, they are owned by someone else. The rules of whomever has physical control of the item wins is the rule that applie

I'm trying to skin a video game that I play. The thing is, it requires the artwork to be transparent TGA. The instructions I find either tell you how to do using PS - no, I don't have $1,000 US to buy. Don't have $10. Or they talk about using an Alpha layer, HUH? I have several programs that I think can do Alpha layer. If not GIMP will (but we have had a rocky marriage in the past) and I can download it. So, great Gurus and Guruesses, anyone got experience with

Franchise name will bring them $$$ and that is all that they care about.
Yeh, my thought exactly. They will throw stuff together and publishing it knowing that even if 1/10 of the people come they will make a lot of bucks. They got the goodies to make a lot of neat substance, but will they use it? Lights and Magic (was that the right company?) is
The new computer should arrive by UPS this afternoon. I've tried to go over in my head what should be the first things to do, here is what I've come up with. 1. Take it out of the box and make sure it boots up before adding things like the extra memory and video card. 2. If everything is okay go online and download anti-virus and anti-malware programs, CCleaner, etc. 3.

Just as an experiment I got my free 7gb from MS and my free 5gb from Amazon. Right away I was totally disappointed with MS. MS copies everything you want stored to its own directory. So if it keeping track of 3gb on its server, it has laid in the same 3gb on your computer BESIDES your original files. Amazon on the other side seems to be just a simple file storage with an easy to use drop box. Simple, easy to access, well worth someone with 5gb or less to store. A

First I think, "What a great OP". Then I think, "What does that fool think he is doing?" My next thought, as I was a medic in the service, was, "How the hell you think I'm going to get there when you got your sorry ass shot up to get there?" Finally I read the fine print written by the cameraman, "I was point heading down the face of the hill with the LT. when we got hit." Sheesh. Not sure what lieutenants are like now, but back in my time that would explain a lot about the situation. I n

I've got about 10 years photography. When I go out shooting I take probably 2 GB or more. Even after judicious trimming I still end up with quite a lot. I have photos in a server that hasn't been turned on for years that I don't even know if they are any good.

"error on line 5" That SO dates you. When I was in high school (75-77) I used to help my friend error check his cards and learned the importance of marking the order on the corner. This way when a budding programer came out of the card reader in total frustration and threw his cards in the air you could at least tell if one was missing. I thought then if this was the new thing people should learn then forget it. I should have given it a try but even back then there was a waiting list for the

The sad part is my cute little Toshiba portable is speaking bad words as of late and I can't afford the $75+ USD to get another. A couple months ago my old clunker external just gave up with not even as much as a good-bye. So, I'm soon to be without my 500GB Toshiba and have nothing to replace the 500GB WD that I used to mirror it with. So, brilliant me has the idea to perhaps use some type of online service. I have one that promises 500GB fro free. It's an FTP type of
