Quite hopeful, look forward to giving opinions on random bits of the game come beta, as long as its after April or so - last year of degree sapping time, havent had enough time to look more into how WoM is doing either. Put cautiously optimistic on the poll, think it should have a "hopeful" option really, im between excited and cautiously optimistic.

Thank you all for the replies. It is good to have a thread around here that is not depressing, been avoiding the forums of late due to the doom and gloom factor. Also edited the list yesterday, I did not realise that when pasting it in the forums added a ton of spaces, making it look like 100 lines longer than it actually was. Anyway, some replies: [quote who="Austinvn" reply="10" id="2758932"]Elemental already has the groundwork for unpredictable, exciting gameplay, many of t

Right then, time for another one of these posts. At time of writing this, Elemental has been out for a few days. I did 2 of these long posts in beta, just collecting and stating various thoughts from my notes. Their focus tended to be on what was ther

"there's a very large map for the campaign: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390799 " There sure is, however this story is not the campaign. I was referring to this land specifically, the one being fought over. "go back over the earlier installments, Andy, there's been some map shots" One, in part one. Showing where Yithril is in comparison to Capitar. None since - hence the increasing feelin

I like these, however they have given me the increasing sense that something is missing. I realised what - a map of the world this is set in. How can you have a fantasy story kingdoms without a map?

This worried me a bit also. Hopefully it is just an option for those wanting quicker MP games with strangers, instead of arranged coop/competitive long term games with friends or whatever. If not, well, i'll have to come back and ask for it.

Okay, so, the last time I listed some thoughts it was appreciated, so here goes for the new version. Was intending to play a bit more but off to Scotland tomorrow so its either now or in a week and a half. As in the last thread its a mix of general honest thoughts, big and small, with some suggestions thrown in. &

Okay, so, I've been playing the recent beta builds a fair bit and have assembled various thoughts. I know improvement is hiding in every shadow already, but just going to ramble about everything I noticed so far to be thorough. Not sure if this too harsh or somesuch, but to be clear, Stardock are awesome and have earned my trust. Maybe theyll find some of this useful, mayb

Yes, I did indeed intend to put in a "minimum" for the competitives, mentioned it in the trade one but slipped my mind in the others. And yes, long games were in my mind for this as they are pretty much what I play for. Anyone got any other ideas?

City Legacies: A set of mini-achievements with an occasional competitive streak that add more character to cities and more importance to the starting cities. Divided into 2 sets: Competitive and Normal. Competitive are for the city that is best at something, and can be taken away by another city that beats it by a comfortable margin. Normal ones are harder to get, but effective for anyone, with no penalties based on how many times its been achieved. Examples:</

I find myself zooming out to the cloth map to check if there is anything of use nearby, and I find myself doing this alot. Things that are worthwhile often stand out, but sometimes do not, like the wrecked wagon pickup. A button that when held caused the grid square they are in to highlight, perhaps with a red or blue faint glow, or perhaps even colour coded to the type of thing it is highlighting, could be useful. This is only for the 3d map, the cloth map is clear enough.

Having units grow all huge as you zoom out looked initially silly to me, however I quickly got used to it as it was useful for finding units I wanted quickly. However, finding them on the empire tree or cloth map should be just as viable, and as such them becoming mountainous is an expendable feature. However, I do greatly like the fact that they grow smaller when zooming in. I can see how others can think it would look silly, but they need to consider what it looks like when you have

The impression I have gained from the lore and story is that the world was all blowed up, people scattered to the 4 winds, and now live in a horrible wasteland. Then I come along, the start of an epic journey - to gather the peoples of this broken world and lead them into the future. Then I magic up some green land, build some houses with nobody, and people just pop out of nowhere and fill it all up. The beginning feels...flat. As one who generally plays t

Mount and Blade has a past history thing where you select what your character did at each stage of their life. It was neat, if the choices were a little basic. It gave the options in the style of an actual character history, instead of a tickbox from a list. While I do not mind a tickbox from a list, I believe it would be a shame to gather a large list of past histories, then be able to pick 1 per game. I reckon I would fall into a playstyle, pick the one that benefitted it the most, then sti

I have played Sword of the Stars MP (as coop mostly, about 28 games total) and HoMM (3-5). I vastly preferred SotS, simultaneous turns helped a great deal with that. We began with time limits on turns, then turned them off once we got into the practice of not taking ages. It felt natural. The one annoying, unfun, bit came when combat came along. For those unfamiliar with SotS, its TBS with real time combat. Fights can last multiple turns, the default max time for a fight was 4 minutes

I like the idea of Sov dying = game over. I think it makes things more interesting. Already in the beta ive had mine squashed by a troll. I didnt feel it wasnt fair, or ended things prematurely, I did something stupid, I paid the price. However like alot of what I saw upon skimming this thread, RNG is meh. I would prefer to be in control of it. Escape tunnels buildable in my cities, bodyguards that hold off the enemy specifically so my Sov can escape, maybe items to get out of a bind
