Quick question - is editing it so certain factions will spread certain terrain types possible yet? I know it is for War of Magic, but using the same technique in War of Magic doesn't seem to do anything. I tried to get it so the Frost giants terrain would produce snow, or the Lizardmen and Orcs would produce swamp and wasteland looking environments respectively.

Still doesn't' really matter. Ubisoft as an organisation is pretty fail, but they do publish a few gems out there. Anno-series, Specifically Anno 2070 is one of the best games they have.
