I have a 4-year old machine, with Windows XP/SP2 : Pre-dual-core 2.8 GHz Intel processor 2 GB of Kingston DDR 1 RAM GeForce 6800 with 512 MB of vram & the latest certified drivers Settings: 1440 x 900 (60) vertical sync: off fidelity presets: custom shadow fidelity: off anti-aliasing: off texture detail: HIGH level of detail

In my case, Impulse downloaded the 611 MB data fast & fine ... but it was the 2nd phase (file extraction) that hung : it crashed my C:\ drive on 2 occasions (had to reboot). In all my years of gaming, it had NEVER happened that a file-extraction process had caused a hard-drive crash. It worked on my third attempt, because I used the WindowsXP Task Manager to manually close all the background processes I was allowed to. Maybe "something" was competing/interfering on the C:\

I have a 4-year old computer (pre-dual-core 2.8GHz processor + GeForce 6800), and the game runs very fine & fluid at a rez of 1440 X 900. I disabled V-synch, Shadow fidelity & AA. I'll try again with 2x AA to see if the framerate drops, but without AA, it looks good on my 19-inch widescreen. Having 2GB of RAM must help. When the maps will get bigger, people with only 1GB of RAM might sometimes see performance drops (when their machine will access the har

I'm sorry to intrude into your arcane discussion, but I did not know what DotA meant. Good old Wikipedia gave me the answer : « Defense of the Ancients (often referred to as DotA ) is a custom scenario for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne , based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for <a title="StarCraft" href="http://fo

I've only played about 45 minutes up to now, and I haven't figured out how that skill system works. Like DeadMG, I'm usually confronted with "greyed out" buttons, and no effective skill to use. For example. I have a cold, blue aura around my feet, but the left buttons associated with cold skills remain greyed out. The only colored button is the one to the right of the cold skills, the button that would make me switch to fire. But if I press it, I become on fire ..

Or ... if you wish to play alone against comps, you "host" a pseudo-LAN game. I say "pseudo" because you can host the LAN game even if your computer is not connected to any other! Then, by default, you will be set on a team with 2 comps, against 3 comps. The game setup options have been disabled in this beta, but you can select one of the 3 demigod types for each of the 6 players (you click, or right-click, on each of the 6 heroes, on the battlefield image, and you get the option of taking th

Thanxxx Kitkun. I suppose that I'm experiencing a targeting issue. I click on a button or key, and I must then mismanage the targeting ... which is easy to do when your target is caught into the dense & dynamic confusion of a battle. But when I click on buttons, they don't seem to change their visual appearance : I do not see on the buttons themselves any visual cues that the special powers have been activated (for an automatic expression or a targeting possibility)

1. I came back into the game, and I tried 2 of the 3 demigods available (in this beta 1). My main problem, I'm ashamed to admit, is that I have not figured out how to use the special powers of the demigods. You have those buttons, associated to special powers & keyboard keys. I click on the buttons or I press the relevant key, and nothing ever seems to happen. (I've never experienced such a difficulty when playing at World of WarCraft.) It's perhaps simple & ob
In addition, we can discover any and all Impulse problems people have with installing the game.
I've experienced 2 total PC crashes, a few hours ago, when Impulse was trying to install the game : where do I report that ? (It did finally work on the 3rd attempt, because I was lucky in my troubleshooting.)

Thursday, 4 September. 1. Got e-mail with key a little before 2pm (USA/Eastern time) -- good ! 2. Launched Impulse, and in the "My Games" section, DEMIGOD was already there, associated to the key (which I did not have to enter) -- good ! 3. Downloaded the game : a 611.74 MB file, which came in at a steady 820 kb/sec (+/- 10) -- good ! 4. When the download was finished, the process shifted to file extraction on my C:\ drive ... and the extraction crashed, reboot

Reading all of innociv's very informative & mature replies, on this thread, I must admit that I'm shocked : he has become such a nice guy ...

1. When you pre-ordered, Stardock Sales sent you a confirmation e-mail. That's all for now : the info will not yet show on Impulse. 2. When the Beta does start (beginning of September ?), 2 events will happen : you will receive an e-mail from Stardock with your personal beta-key, and the game will at last appear on Impulse. For the moment, there is nothing you can do except wait.
I will think twice before [I] buy "stardock" games again
Ooo ... what a threat ! If you do that, the only one you will be punishing is : yourself. Stardock creates or produces great games, with no copy protection. If you wish to deprive yourself of purchasing those games ... oh, well : No soup for you ! P.S. > Wow ! I've been away for a month or so, and I was given 4 karma points. Thanks to those 3 sympathetic souls. ;

That positive karma system is somewhat of an arbitrary joke. If you read the reasons why some people obtain positive karma (by clicking on their golden +X number), it's obvious that there is a little gang of fanboy buddies, on this forum, who inflate each other's karma. OK ... I confess : I'm jealous because I'm still stuck at ZERO. :SNIFF!:

I'm not surprised ... but some of the fanboys, on this forum, might argue : 1. That your screenshot is a fake ; 2. Or, as one of the head fanboys has said on another thread : « There are hundreds of players who are on ICO ... at other times. » It seems that IC & SD are investing a lot of time & effort boosting MP for their big 1.1 update : Building more stable deckchairs on the Titanic ?
