I hope you incorporate some of the building techniques that Kryo used in Gal Civ 2. Being able able to merge multiple hulls and parts made for a lot of versatility in ship design. His method was far better than the default.
I was very reluctant about the whole idea of using Steam, but now that I've had some experience with it I kind of like it. It makes it very easy to get my hands on a game. These days, retail stores have next to nothing as far as computer games goes. My local EB Games has just a small shelf devoted to them, and they tend to only carry the latest blockbust

And yes, I don't know where all that crap after "by Plus-HD-1.3" came from. Certainly not from my post. You might be better off just formatting your drive
What if I want to play it on a computer without internet and Steam?
You set Steam to offline mode. It doesn't require an active internet connection to function. I played Fallout New Vegas for a couple of years without having any sort of internet at all. I still play all my Steam games in offline mode, only going online if I want to buy a game or check one of their forums. You really should find out how things actually work before

Yes, I was reading how he was going to make good use of multi-threading capability. The AI was definitely a disappointment in Twilight of the Arnor, it did much better in Dark Avatar IMO. I guess they just couldn't quite get a handle on all those unique buildings etc. In one game I played, the Torians had a massive empire but almost all of their planets had little more than a Spaceport on it, including their home planet. And they had pitiful defences for them all. They were my main compet
I think if you liked Civ4 and 5 you will like it.
I agree. While I haven't played Civ 5 at all, I see a number of similarities between GalCiv2 and the Civilization series in general. So if you liked those games, you would probably enjoy the GalCiv games as well.
I just came across the news that Gal Civ 3 is in production. You can count on me for a copy, I thought you did a fine job with Gal Civ 2. Though I'm a bit disappointed in looking at the screenshots to see that it will still be a flat universe. I was really hoping the next edition would have a 3D universe rather than have all the action take place on a single plane. And I really hope you put some extra effort into the AI, that was the main weakness in the last edition IMO. Especially with

Just a word of warning for anyone thinking of using a memory address patch on Windows XP. That OS isn't well designed for extra memory usage for applications and doing so will most likely cause problems with
Well that's no big deal, I never minimize it anyway. Either I'm into a game or I'm not, I'll very rarely switch back and forth to Windows once I've started plating something. So did you also make the game Large Memory Address Aware as well?
I'm running both Windows XP and Windows 7 64bit. I currently have GalCiv2 - Twilight of the Arnor running on XP since it's an older game but I'm thinking of moving it over to 7, and making it Large Memory Address Aware. Is there going to be any issues doing this? Long ago I read that sometimes there's a problem with memory when there are a lot of ships on the map, so I
Yes, I have it all sorted out thanks. I haven't downloaded the game yet but I know where to go at least.
You can register retail copies here and download the latest version here after doing so.
Thank you Kryo, I was having the very same problem. I'm really not impressed with GameStop, I don't find it the least bit user-friendly. It spent a couple of hours at least trying to figure how to get my game updated. PS: So i registered the game through the link you provided but it's not showing as such with GameStop yet.
You're mistaken. If you look at the RaceConfig.xml file, you'll see that the minor races use other ship styles, not their own.

Legacy and LT, you're not understanding the problem. It has nothing to do with those announcements. When I first make contact with a race it's supposed to give me a greeting, then after that they will appear in the various screens in the game, like the Foreign Affairs, Espionage, Stats & Graphs. Well that's not always happening. Instead of the greeting, I'm getting the text where they announce what they're researching, then they don't appear in any of the screens. It's not a mi

Especially early in the game, you might not yet have "seen" their planet and their ships may have met your onl
I just picked up the Ultimate Edition a few days ago and I'm rather disgusted with the performance I've been seeing. After all the time that Twilight has been out, this game should be running flawlessly. Yet I'm encountering so many crashes and glitches. The latest one being the Planetary Governor telling me that a name is already in use when it's not. The game breaker though is some races not appearing in any of my screens after being contacted. Well I'm still slogging away at it, though it's not made any easier having a serious bug to contend with. For some reason there will be a race, or more, that won't appear in any of the screeens after meeting them. So I can't contact them, place spies with them, or get any sort of info. They don't even show up in the United Planets meetings. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it pretty much screws up the game and I have to restart a new one. Anyhow I'm learning to liv
Well I got a basic response so far but nothing else. Fortunately I was also able to send them a save game as well, so that should help. Provided it's not some hardware conflict on my part. I doubt it though as I never had this problem with DA. I sure hope they can figure it out because it's annoying as hell. I really wish there were a global option for that frankly as I don't like having it terraform my planets automatically. I'd rather do it myself so you can have the planet build an improvement as soon as the land is clear, instead of having to wait until everything has been done.
Where am I supposed to find this debug.err file? I don't see it anywhere, at least not in any main folders. PS: Nevermind, I found it. I didn't think to look in the My Documents folder.
