It was based on you searching the past for old knowledge, not knowing what you'll find. Each time a discovery is made you choose from a random list. You can choose the basic area of research but not the outcome. There is supposed to be rare and random technology popping up in every game.
Even in the idealized version that y

So I wouldn't base your concerns for FE on what you feel about the most recent WoM patch.

Awesome update, which looks suspiciously like part of a manual :-p Definitely many huge steps in the right direction. One thing that worries me (not having played, maybe my worries are misplaced) is this sentence from the beginning: As the sovereign levels, traits can be selected that increase these proficiencies (a sovereign created as an Air Disciple can become an Air Mage). As I've advocated <a href="https://forums.elem

They tried to buy the rights from Atari, but it fell through because of onerous conditions imposed by Atari (who is doing exactly squat-all with the franchise). "Atari" really doesn't exist any more, except as the product of a chain of buyouts by corporate twits who view gamers as a sort of semi-sentient cattle who need to be milked for every possible drop of discretionary spending.
To be honest, the closest thing to a true MoM successor is Fall From Heaven 2 which is a mod for Civ 4 - it is a much better game than E:WoM. I would pay 40 -50 bucks for it, but it is free!
Yeah, I always thought the city management was unacceptably light, the tactical pacing was a little slow / off for me,

I have tried to be patient, but it is hard when you bought a game expecting a game and got something that was comparable to alpha testing. We aren't being greedy here, we are just being reasonable considering we paid to wait for a game that is barely even playable a year later.
As patient and understanding
The earlier bit where they say "players definitely have a higher game IQ" is what makes it clear that they aren't talking about the IQ of gamers. I don't know why they made up a term when they could have just worded it differently, and then didn't bother to define that term (unless they did it earlier in the article), but it does seem clear to me they're talking about people's ability to figure out and play more complex game

A good try, but suffers from an embarrassment of riches. What made spell books so awesome in MoM is how rare they were; you had to make real choices at creation. Finding another spell book in-game was an extremely rare event (as in, didn't happen even once in most games) that only happened upon clearing a point of interest of top-tier monsters (Sky Drakes, Demon Lords, etc). Making it rain spell books cheapens them and reduces replay value by making most strategies available every g

The one thing I'd like to point out, is that not one person has chimed in that it's not an awesome game - on this or any other thread that I can remember reading (I can't possibly be right about that?). That should tell you something. Personally I have no problem with the $55 price tag, it has given me far greater returns than many, many much prettier and more recent games that cost as much, and I only play SP (I can't imagine what would happen to

My point was that while similar logic has been written before, since the AI is very engine-specific in what it has to deal with, my impression is that you still start more or less from scratch each time with a new engine (or your first game on a licensed engine). So to duplicate the AI of that game, would take about as much time from a stand
