Voting for one career politicians to show the other career politicians seems a strange concept to me. At least McCain had a career outside politics and law. He was the first major candidate in a long time from an alternative background, even if it was the military.
I agree. This was a strong point for Sarah Palin, IMO. She was from the real world, not the Daddy's-money-club. But let's

Leauki, I think more people realize this than will admit it. I think the main motivation in voting for Obama was to stick it to the "good old boys" who have failed to do anything to fix the issues in this country. I think it was more about desperation than hope.

People, people, he's a politician. Do these guys EVER do anything they really promise to do during a campaign? I sense a lot of bark and little bite. O won't be a savior or a devil. He'll prove himself to be just another politician. And as for the "world owes me a living" mentality, fewer young people have that than you think. Keep in mind Boomer entry level jobs have been shipped off or eleminated in this rush to globalize. Thus America has screwed it's own young people over, and by

The genre box exists, and anyone who has played games for the last decade or so knows what I'm talking about. Modern games are trying way too hard to categorize themselves by adding the same types of game play over and over. That would be fine...if they hadn't worn out their welcome. We now have a bazillion shooters, and any developers working on more this year need to have their heads examined. I'm sick of them: shooters and strategy games have almost totally overrun the PC market, squ

That is one of my favorite games of all time.
And really, you don't have to call it Star Control. You can call it My Kitchen Sink for all I care, but please, we need more games like Star Control.
There's a key bit of mistaken reasoning in the original poster's argument: It's not digital stores that determine that we're not going to respect copies of games sold via competitors' stores (at least in the case of Impulse - can't speak for others), it's the publishers. The publisher has to allow us to do this, and thus far, none have.
^ quoted for truth. Let's hold the actual culprits responsible. You do

Yes, it's probably old news... http://roguelikedeveloper.blogspot.com/2008/10/review-world-of-goo.html Here's a snip: "It was all about the API – of course. Can someone make a Star Control "clone"? Pretty please? Few folks have made space adventure games that don't overly emphasise one aspect of play above all the others. I don't want a flight sim. I don't want a shoot'em-up space game. I want an adventure game, a variety of game play, a good story, great replay, and some real heart. I want to be able to land on planets and explore. I want to have to hunt for resources to continue my exploration. I want to meet new aliens, forge aliances, fight b

You are right about griding. Eventually you realize there's no true reward for it. Exploring is very exciting as long as you have something new to find, but there's a delicate balance that has to be maintained. Unfortunatly, you often end up with "more of the same" that doesn't add anything worthwhile to the game. Guild Wars experienced this as well (though in fairness it's target market was the PVP crowd, not the PVE crowd). It's a shame no one has tried to develop some kind of dynamic and c

Because, as a consumer I have to ask, the no-DRM policy will not change, correct? Honestly, I've just discovered totalgaming.net in the last few months and no-DRM is tremendously attractive (DIE EA! AND YOUR LITTLE SPORE TO!). Steam has POed me by allowing companies to release their games on Steam with DRM still intact, which defeats the entire purpose of the client (at least they're forcing disclosure of DRM). I take it this impulse thing is going to be alot like Steam, which is fine since I

As much as I love Galactic Civ, I'd really like to see you guys make something that not so strategy heavy and more like Star Control 2. I really need a space exploration game with endless randomly generated areas of space. I want that feeling of concentrating on a single ship/fleet and a single area of space at a time rather than looking at the entire galaxy at once. With a smaller focus, the galaxy ends up feeling huge and mysterious which I like. Planets should get more emphasis
