Sorry I should have mentioned that I am using TA. I'm not seeing any spelling errors, it just doesn't appear to allow interstellar communications unless you have a tech called UniversalTranslator, and because I have a tech called UniversalTranslator I get offered the option to build Embassies that I don't want. In addition to the above list. 4, is it possible to alter the ships that are offered at the start of the game? 5, can you set a

Hi, I'm working on my own mod and have a few questions... 1, is the requirement for UniversalTranslator hard coded, I've replaced it with a different name that fits with my mod and it doesn't accept it for communication? 2, how can I stop the original PlanetImprovements.xml interfering with my modded PlanetImprovments.xml? The issue is due to having to use a technology called UniversalTranslator I'm being offered the Embassy in my improvements list, even
Publius, thank you very much, that is a great help and I can get beck to modding again - with a back-up this time.
Thanks for the link Publius, however it doesn't appear to be listed, nor can I find it in the GalCivII Library. MarvinKosh, you are right it was in there, but I corrupted my installation of it while trying to make a total conversion mod, and stupidly I didn't make a back-up.
Can someone point me in the direction of the Mod that Stardock did for ToA. Thanks

The serial number on my copy was on the back cover of the manual.
OK, thanks folks. Looks like I'm going to end up removing them from my mod, and thinking of other ways to implement my ideas.
Is there any way to change the area of effect for starbases? I'm wanting to make the area smaller so that they have to be placed nearer to your planets. Thanks
MoO is available for free [link removed] As far as I'm aware it isn't an illegal site.
Hello, I've been creating a map using xml rather than the map editor, when I load the map into the Editor all the stars are present with the relevant styles but not the names. I've compared a map created with the editor and my xml and there isn't any difference. Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem? Thanks
I've bought and played to death every version of Civ from the Atari release, which we had to petition to get. I'm looking forward to geting it but dreading the mess of hoops I'd have to jump though in the name of DRM. They've not announced the DRM so fingers crossed it's something simple and benign :)
Like you said console owners can't install the software and have to constantly put the disk in the drive. So why don't you hear them complaining that it's wrong that they can't get a replacement disk? It's only PC owners that think we have the right not to have to use the disk more than once. How many of us look after our disks? I do as I'm anal when it comes to putting them back and having them in the right case, it doesn't take a lot to help to protect th
The issue of scratching the disk, or having to take the disk everywhere with you is an hurdle we've had to live with before. Take 3.5" disks of yesteryear (pre PC), you had to have the disk in the drive to play as buying an HDD was well beyond the means of many, a 30MB HDD would cost around £300. And why is it that many PC owners think that they have an exemption to having to take the media with them, handheld consoles have to take the cartridge or disk with them, and even
I’ve not bought a PC game for a long time, I got the Entrenchment expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire, and that has been it. It’s not that there aren’t any games that I’d like to play there are. So, what is stopping me from buying them? DRM, it’s got past the ridiculous and to the point, with Ubisofts latest plans, of extreme customer control. No DRM is ever going to be good enough stop piracy. Currently a man from the UK is fight
Personally I do believe we are responsible for global warming and any action we take to clean up our impact on the enviroment can only be a good thing. As the saying goes better be safe than sorry.
In the past couple of days I upgraded my version of AdAware to the Anniversary Edition. For some reason the Taskbar keeps returning to a bland grey colour, nothing else in the themes change only the Taskbar colour/pattern it even keeps the Taskbar icons, reapplying the theme corrects it until I reboot then its back to the grey. Any ideas? Thanks Jason
...or like one where you can BE anything like SWG?
I remember those days of SWG too, just after the release of JTL it all seemed good... Then the so called upgrades and respecs came ruined it RUINED IT I say. The STO game has been in development for a while, it was started by Perpetual Entertainment which went bust and probably sold its assets to Cryptic. It's the same game just with a new company name.
Spaxspore, as you are responsible for the movies used in the mod first I have to say your choices are good, but they are way too long. The movies used in the tech discovery sceen could be replaced with much shorter movies, I don't think anyone would spend anywhere near a minute on the tech discovery screen, more like 10 secs. Also, the starting movie could be cut down too, after the Enterprise bit cut the rest up until the fighting sequences at the end. Not dissing you
I've had the minimap problem happen regularly. I have an Intel P4 3.06 HT processor. Jason
I hope one of the bugs you have fixed is the one that occurs when you culturally take over a planet. It's been really bugging me recently as I keep having to restart the game as the minimap graphics get corrupted Jason
To encourage civs to save you could remove the economic penalty when you reach 20000BC.
Does he mean the Ranger and Corvettes?
I would have gone but my wife is due any day now Is she being delivered by first class mail or special delivery?
