No please no muskets or cannons... I feel like that would ruin the feel of the game. I would be happier if it stayed very medieval: LotR and ASoIaF style. This isn't warcraft...

So are we not even testing the tactical battles or what? That would be terrible if true.
Wait WHAT?! The betas are all cloth map? I thought that was just the first phase or so?
Which one is the bad one?
You can always have your games filled with only the kingdoms of men, if you prefer...
Incest can be included as long as those kids have a significant change of being born with some major vice, be it insanity or a crippled body. They should also not survive past infancy as often as other babies.
Major improvements are new weapon types - moving from bronze swords to steel swords. Or from bronze swords to iron axes. Minor improvements are interations on the same type of sword: Bronze Swords I, II, etc. If each tech happened by chance the game would get too crazy and random.
I think the resources that are needed for a TW clone are better invested in correcting everything the TW games fail at: namely, everything but the battles.
This is the system that should be used: The father's side crowns whichever child he desires, and if the mother's side wants to crown a different child, they either negotiate to come to an agreement or both children become kings/queens and there is war between them. So the father's side will normally get control of the successor.
I think religion should be some sort of initially set scenario condition and not some crazy mutating monstrosity like in civ. So maybe civs that are set to have similar religions will have improved relations and can fight holy wars together. Manually spreading your religion and always having it get in the way of diplomacy was just too cumbersome. I think in Elemental the player should have the option to not have his game's diplomacy centered around religion and simply omit it from the world.<
Why should Stardock let you play their game for free? Beta is not a demo.
Indignation because of being charged for beta? Nobody owes you the privilege of being involved in the development process.
Lomion, what you're suggesting causes one of the pivotal turning points in A Song of Ice and Fire. Definitely a good idea.
Very happy with this. Go Stardock! edit: George R.R. Martin influences?! INCREDIBLE. His style would make a more interesting game than LotR, I feel.
I think they charge you when beta starts.
Unkown924, a significant exception to the call for making old techs obsolete is that old techs that require different resources would not become obsolete. In my original post, I stated that only improved versions of weapons derived from the same resources as the unimproved versions should make the unimproved versions obsolete.
My two cents: there is no way Starcraft 2 is going to be a "black hole of money." For pay custom maps and over ten million copies sold easily will ensure that.
endofdayz, I assume you will have to use whatever resources creating axes requires, not simply gold. A turn of retraining or two would probably be necessary as well.
As long as none of this simultaneous gets in my single-player, it's fine. But SP should be traditional full turns.
That's amazing news!
I recall seeing something along the lines of actually being able to construct your own custom buildings from pieces like some kind of simplified spore. Is that still in the plan? Because that would be seriously cool.
Thanks for the response BoogieBac, that sounds exactly what I was hoping for. Elemental sounds better with every post I read!
Haha SaberCherry, I think the post being obsolete is the best of all outcomes. Can we get a Stardock dev to confirm this if time permits? [e digicons][/e]
Sorry for another thread about techs, but I think this is a very important and potentially game-harming issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. We all remember GalCiv 2, where every new weapon/engine tech researched called for a manual upgrade of each custom ship the player designed. Whle Gal Civ 2 is a great 4X game, this was a serious blight upon its awesomeness (even with automatic upgrading). What I'm asking for in Elemental is this: no upgraded ve
Is elemental even going to have navies or just transports like HoMM?
