Man that looks good. Playing on the cloth map is going to be torture.

Good idea for GalCiv, not Elemental.
How insightful.
just pre-ordered [e digicons][/e]
It really is a great picture. Everything looks so clean and beautiful as if it had just been raining.
Does anyone know when the last day to pre-order and still get into Beta 1 is?
Aesir, I'd hope that every company's latest major title is intended to be their "magnum opus."
I have a related question to titles: do heroes and other characters age in Elemental or is it more game-y than sim-y?
Well Blizzard has an in-house cinematic team, so it's not like one department is trying to make a profit off another. They're expensive as hell, though. I just want to say that I agree that the opening video is not a big deal, nobody watches them anyway unless they're from blizzard or square. However, I think some decent ending videos could add a lot to the game. Gal Civ 2 had pretty decent ones, if they are slightly longer and better looking for Elemental I'll be very happy.
Hey Frogboy I just played a game of GalCiv2 in icon mode to see if I could stand it. It was actually very playable, and I'm sure if the icons were nicer I would have had an even better time. Bring on the beta!
Aside from how weird the hills look, that's a great screenshot.
bwahahahahaha this is the most retarded thing I've ever seen
Maybe not in multiplayer, but let the player name landmarks (mountain ranges, forests etc.) as well as heroes and towns (optional, of course). Even better would be forests and mountains begin nameless and get a name after something important happens there, but this might be too much work for the devs. Enemy towns should be re-namable if you want as well. I think titles are something the game should give, it makes them feel more authentic. And of course you can rack up multiple titles and choo
Double thanks, I guess... EGADS!
Thanks a lot Frogboy! I appreciate it.
All of you complaining about AI abuse would have some ground if this was a multiplayer game, but I think most people who play complex TBS games are mature enough to role-play properly to get the experience they want. If the AI can be abused in some obscure yet unfair way... DON'T ABUSE IT THEN. If the AI is flawed in a typical transaction then there's a problem, but repeatedly selling back easily recaptured cities for gold is just unsportsmanlike on the player's part. If you want to pimp out
Stardock doesn't have an obligation to do anything, but it's definitely in their interest to do this, as the biggest pc community is on steam and steam is how you stay connected to your friends when in-game. I can't think of one person I could message with an Impulse IM (I'm the only person I know who even knows what impulse is).
Steam overlay is like a little interface that pops up when you press some key combination (of your choosing) which has your friends lists and active chats and a web browser and everything. The nice thing is it comes up over your game so you don't have to tab out. You can add the overlay to most any game, but for some reason Stardock games don't like it.
As much as I love Stardock and will always buy a game off impulse over another DD if possible, steam has the better community features and I was wondering if Elemental will allow us to use the steam overlay with it. I had problems using the steam overlay with both Gal Civ 2 and Demigod (if anyone knows how to fix that I'd love you forever). Although I could add the games fine the shift-tab overlay didn't work. Thanks for answering/helping!
No, stardock has enough creative force that they can do better than microprose and all the constraints they had to deal with in their time. And did you seriously propose turning X-Com into an FPS....?
is there some legitimacy to the claim that they might be pushing back the beta date?
Thrawn, the epic music of total war (rome and m2 in particular) seriously made those games. If elemental could pull something off like that it would be absolutely incredible. I never auto-resolved in M2 because of how good the music was. Never. Please Stardock, music is seriously something worth investing in.
Your idea seems fun, but there would definitely need to be some significant resistance when such a thing happens. Some commanders will see what you're doing and rebel, others will fall under your influence. It SHOULD be evident that someone is messing with this kingdom's leadership, but it shouldn't be evident who it is (unless someone makes a concentrated effort to find out). There would of course be significant consequences if someone would find out that you were controlling the kingdom tha
Why do you care if Stardock's game becomes a major blockbuster or not? The game will be good and it will sell to its intended audience, and even if it doesn't sell a million copies Stardock will continue to support it with awesome updates. If anything, we should be lobbying to get as much focus on the actual game as possible instead of advertising. As players who will buy the game regardless of advertising, it's in our interest to ask Stardock to spen
But when you've taken control of all the enemy governments you can then force them to sign alliances with you, giving you diplomatic victory... It's not really a separate condition. It takes an extra minute to do.
