It's very good for an Alpha IMO. I saw no bugs in my run other then the nipicks above. I still hate the landing sequence, it's pointless, but also found a big source of my frustration is lots of gaming on a PC. I want to fly a flying ship like it's flying, not like it's on the ground. I push up to go down, and down to go up, it's so built into my brain that even when I'm thinking about it I get it wrong. I still find landing a meaningless minigame, but Hope
You mean landings on to planets that scientists have spent decades studying, analysing, and creating landing vectors? Good luck doing that for a planet you only saw 10 minutes ago.
all this tells me is you know nothing about landing on a planet works. We don't even try to control landings on mars, we build the system and because of light speed delay we don't know if it works until after it's happened.&n

There are NO directions on how to land. The controls are...Mush and meaningless, landing goes from oh look your fine to Oh crap I'm gonna die instantly. I've tried landing with out control..and with "control" I've died both ways on planets I'm being told are safe(enceladus). This mini game will add early game frustration to new players who will turn the game off and never play again. The controls have no real clues as to how they are working The Little jet

4 more landers down, controls feel pointless. I don't see what making landing a mini game adds to the overall game, It will be the most bitched about thing post release if it stays in the game. The general populace will HATE it. Landing for resources is a big part of star control, and I see no evidence this is going to change. We don't do manual landings with space craft in 2018...I doubt we'll go back to it in 2088.

if they stay as currently implemented, Planetary landings will be the biggest thing people will bitch about when the game goes live. I've done a few dozen and already am not just bored but annoyed with them. Remove them entirely.
Landing on planets with weather will knock you off. We should probably have a warning on that. The moon, for instance, easy to land. Venus, very hard.
But there shouldn't be many places you can land in the Solar System have enough atmosphere to even Notice. Venus, earth and Titan. Mars is so thin it's hardly worth talking about. Does anything else in the solar syste

I've been unable to finish the little bit of game we have for two reasons. A. the camera, already talked about a lot. and B. the lander. Lander landing is terrible. The controls (at least on my keyboard) are bad. I don't feel like I have any control..I've tried a few times to play more and I just frustrated and turn it off after i run out of landers. It's not a good experience. And how the freak is that not expected to get shockingly tedious afte

HE was reading the documents. The second video was mostly reading what Paul and Fred said...OF COURSE it was discussed from that side. He isn't part of this community, he doesn't read this post. He ONLY has the court documents to read from. To be fair, he has to read both sides.

I trust French to be non-partial when it comes to cases. I've been following him long enough to know how he reads things. ALL he was doing was reading the documents he had in hand and commenting on them. I think he doesn't have nearly as much information as is provided in this forum post. And I can't fill him in as he's not under the NDA. So I think his end conclusion was pretty correct, this is gonna be a mess. I think Paul and Fred did a pretty masterful job of

The one thing In this long running conversation I haven't heard anyone bring up is this. What did the Original 3rd party developer contract for starcontrol 2 say? This would answer many of these questions I think. Unless Paul and Fred can come up with some documentation to support their ownership...I'd prolly guess they don't have any.

I want the basic combat game to stay as simple and pure as it was originally...games have had the urge to add complexity...and it often turns into micro management and math and extra screens. It would ruin the feel. Improve the graphics, improve the controls. leave the combat simple.
