Used stardoc and updated to the new beta so I could see if it allowed me to play my saved game that was causing me game to crash after a few turns. (damn memory problems had ruined the game for me) I was very surprised to see that I was in fact able to play without a crash and after about an hour of playing saved and ended my game for the night very happy. I have not tried to re-create any of the graphical errors reported yet, but I will be getting around to seeing if It will h

I got to agree with Stormbringer, the memory proble s a game breaker error that needs to be corrected. the fact they are still working on the minor issues is nice to know since it all should be looked at, but I have not played GalCiv for almost two weeks now because of the main problem. I also can't in all honesty praise the game to my friends until the error is corrected because who in there right minds is going to spend hard earned money on something that has a known fault in it until

Same problem I have, had a great metaverse game going on gigantic and then it starts to crash. The only difference I have is that I can still save but only play around 20 or so turns before it crashes. This problem and the fact that they have not fixed it has serriously ruined my enjoyment of the game and caused me to start playing other games and reading again. The plain fact is if I was able to I would go back to the original DA version I got when I originaly bought the game cause it

Have had the same thing happen to me just today when I finally got around to playing 1.6... It irritats me and has resulted in me losing track of ships on the map. I hope they listen to this and correct the glitch. Angelon

As far as games goes people enjoy RPG's because of the story element and the feeling that the choices they make effect the long term events of the game. Also they are able to see the characters grow and become more in depth from the games events. (cut scenes and mini movies add to that). Turn based strategy games challenge the thinking player and allows them to overcome a computer AI, which will in the end never be able to adapt constantly to a serious strategy player. I have not gotten an out of memory error when trying to save but my game does crash on the gigantic map I am trying to play. It plays fine on medium and smaller all the way through, but my system resources do slowly get eaten up as the game takes longer to finish and after closing out the game it takes time for the cach to clear out. The memory leak does not seem as bad as the one City of heroes had at one time, where it would steadly eat all available ram and virtual mem while just sta

Only thing I can think of is to form fleets first before moving the ships around. Its to bad that ships that are in a stack but not in a fleet don't move together at one time.

I have a question about having multiple computers using the same internet access port and running GalCiv at the same time. What I mean is each comp has its own unique copy of the game and all of them are reqistered will they all still be able to register there own metaverse games and recive updates even tho they are connected via a local network.? I ask cause I have a few friends who are thinkiing about getting into the game and they all share a place since they are in colledge

Just tried to play again, I started a tiny map and I was able to play for 3 hours no problems. SO I loaded my Gigantic Map again and was able to do maybe 15 turns or so before it crashed again. the Debug ends with the same line as what I posted above. Is it possible that the dreadlords and the fact its a Gigantic map might be whats causing my game to crash..?

ok I installed the new driver and then made sure that all of my original settings were to defalt but the game still crashes, and this time I don't see an obvious error. Im going to download the beta 93.81 driver and see if that will correct the problem for me. if not I can always revert back to my current driver and reset things and keep trying. will post another debug if it crashes after driver change. Angelon

Here is my Debug after the most recent crash to desktop. I have tried all kinds of things to get the game to stop crashing and play normally again and nothing I do makes any difference. Recently my DA has been crashing at odd times while playing. the only thing I can think of that has changed was when I went into the Nividia settings and tweaked things a bit so that the sharpness and color tone was easier on my eyes. Since then My game will crash after doing a turn or when I try to do an intelligence report on an enemy ship. I am still able to play for a few turns and if I am careful I can always save after 4 or 5 turns just in case. However I have seen that o

I don't agree that only cargo and large+ hulls should be allowed to use the various transport modules. A good example why would be to think of star wars and how there are a large number of various sized transports in that universe. Like the unstandard Millenium Falcon, to the trully Gigantic bulk freighters. With Da we now have an idea of how many crew members are on each ship size so when I design a tiny hull Transport I get to thinking about a 2 crewman ship hauling around a

Well I was using tiny ships for freighters since I was only up to medium hulls and all of them were being built for main combat against the Yor, Drengin, and Terrans. I still can't figure out what the Terrans were drinking when they became allies of the Drengin. I just got to large hulls, but all of my allies are gone except for the Iconias and thats because I gave them a planet early on to try to save them so I could milk a bit of trade out of them. My current game has changed my mind about tiny hulls. I use to think they were only good for scouting and early planet defense. However now I have grown to love having a fleet for tiny fighters patrolling sectors of my empire. My current Logistics is only 15 so I can field 7 Tiny fighters equiped with twin mass drivers and the best armor I have. No engines but with the engine tech I have they still move 3 spaces, just enough to patrol around my planets within range of a military starbas

Those are some really nice looking ships. I don't think I would ever try to make any like them since my system is a few years old and I would not be able to really enjoy having ships with that many components since it would drag everything down to a snails pace or worse. BSG and Star Treck ships seem to be the main design simularities so far, but has anyone tried to make ships from Star Blazers? Angelon

The most fun I have had as far as tech research and how fast it happens is by playing on a gigantic map with rare stars, common planets and abundent habitable. then making research very slow and turning off tech trading. (I also have 8 minor races for the fun of it) With just under 10 planets in my empire and no way to trade techs I now have to research everything and that does slow down how fast you go through the tech tree. After a full day of playing and with an event that s

I agree with you on not having to start a game to do ship designs. I tend to spend a few hours a day just playing around with ship designs in an attempt to make a unified style. Course I'm the only one getting to see them but I still like my ships to look nice when I play.

This is a simple glitch, I have had it happen a few times to me so I know whats going on. If you make a ship design and save it then later make changes to that design and save over the older one without renaming it you will not see any of the new components. They are on it but the game for some reason will not show them until you start a new game. Its like I said a minor glitch and not really a bug and rather low on the need to fix order of things... A good example of a mega event would be the Jaged Knife event. having planets from all of the major races rebel and form a new minor race of multiple planets can be bad if you happen to lose a planet that had a major building on it. Its still not that bad since its still only a minor race and will not be overly agressive compaired to the major races. Angelon

Nope, I did that once when I was making my first custom ship style and caused a CTD when I deleted a few of the templates I had for my ship style. the only way I could get the CTD to stop was to delete the ship style and all of the ships. I did finally get my ships to show up, they were all saved under the terran ship style for some odd reason. I don't mind to much since all of them were custome hulls but it was frustrating till I was able to use them again. Angelon
