Thanks guys I had no idea about the ship builder feature.....I thought that the tech trees would open up the options needed to upgrade to new combat vessels.....I'll give the ship builder a try and let you know........

I'm brand new to the GalCiv II series and have been playing for less than a week now.....First I must say that it's a really terrific Turn-based strategy game, I would rank it right up there with Civ IV. I am still going through the learning curve...... getting the feel for the different types of strategies that can be applied.....At this point I have many questions that I would like to get resolved, but one that stands out at the moment is...
