The way it was used it sounded like click to zoom out which doesn't make any sense to me. If you're talking about click from strategic view to zoom int

So, I haven't bought the game (yet), but I'd like to chime in on the concept of zoomed out strategic type view. (long time SC: FA player) Strategic view is to oversee the entire area where _multiple_ battles may be taking place. Basically...get an overview of the whole war. Which is a feature of this game. In wars, you need a quick way to get a basic overview and concept of what is going on in each battle, and ideally (for video games) be able to quickly zoom in

Why not try having a decently sized fleet at the colony that keeps getting attacked? Weaken your main offensive fleet a bit if you have to. Since it sounds like they are pretty darn well upgraded, you can take a small portion, a couple of cap ships and good number of frigates and you won't lose all that much offensive power. Also consider building lots of hangers and defense turrets at the threatened colony.

[quote] To the first point, we're talking about WWII and trying to apply that to Sins? Couple of things here that totally null and void your arguement. Even in our current, modern day warfare, this no longer applies. The majority of combat occurs beyond the horizon (no need for tactical maneuvering other than getting the jump on someone, certainly not weaving); our (U.S.) carrier groups are based around keeping the enemy outside of cruise missile engagement range, because they know

While not having played much in the way of Sins, I have played quit a bit of HW/HW2. The way I see this debate (perhaps too weak a word) and the way it seems is that in Sins, we are encouraged to keep a mostly hands off approach when it comes to battles. Whereas in HW/HW2 it was very much to your advantage to take a somewhat hands on approach because with some ships if you maneuvered your ships the other ship's main weapon(s) would not have the firing arc to shoot at your ships. Think the Ion Ca

I would think it has to do something with the time that it might take to build a ship plan, and then actually deploy it. Personally if all of the chassis are basically the same look like in SE5, IMHO the code and the size of the information going across the wire would be relatively trivial. All of the techs are based on data files loaded in at game/mod start, and then each 'ship' simply becomes a map of this item id, at this level, at this location on this size ship. Of course, I don't
