I like it... a lot. But preferably if it's a stack of units, one individual becomes a Hero. e.g. I wouldn't want a whole squad of "Hero" swordsmen, just one stands out above the rest.

NB: Yes I did some searches for these terms before posting a new thread :) So custom items are in, and custom units - nice. What about factions? I've only _ever_ played galciv2 and for that matter moo2, STARS! etc with a custom race! I like to make my own story and play it out in the world. I'm not the only one, surely :) Custom channeler? Same thing. Would be great to mix and match abilities/skills/spell styles as in MoM with perhaps some extra stuff thrown in (disadv
I played EVE a lot but don't enjoy destroying other people's stuff so the PvP side of it was totally uninteresting. Which basically rules EVE out for me in the long term, because as a PvE game it's probably one of the worst out there, with wafer-thin plot, boring and repetitive content that lacks surprises and lacks challenge. CCP claim to be big on risk vs. reward but they seem incapable of creating it themselves and rely on players (griefers really) to make anything challenging. If
Count me in. Last game in development I was this obsessed with was Vanguard and that turned out to be a bitter disappointment, an awesome success and again a bitter disappointment (in number of players, it's an awesome game and deserves a million or three but has a tiny fraction of that). And Elemental... has all the makings of a truly awesome game without's VG's downfall. The investors appear to be coding it lol
Is there any way to add a pay-now option to the pre-order? I'd rather pay now and support development of this game, have been waiting for a sequel to MoM for many long years and tend to buy most Stardock games lately anyway, so I'm 99.999% sure this is going to be jaw-droppingly, spine-breakingly awesome.
Another good way to do this would be when a small or tiny map is generated, in reality a max size map is generated (gigantic/huge) and only a small-map sized chunk of the top left hand corner is initially available for play. Result? The game expands naturally once you "win" in the small scale, no compex map modification code is required and the landmasses all make perfect sense rather than looking a bit odd at the borders between the old small map and the larger new one. The t
SR2 is an awesome game, I played it for a fair long while and at $4 it's an absolute steal! The translation is a bit quirky at times but I actually found that to be part of the charm. I ran it in full screen mode at whatever the highest res is and it looked great to me... Like everything after the first hour or two the graphics are irrelevant and it all comes down to gameplay, which SR2 has in spades. cheers, Kul
I have now had to download and employ hacks for _two_ total war games I have _legitimately purchased_ in order to get them to work. The first was the gold edition of RTW - it never worked out of the box despite buying the DVD edition and waiting two weeks for my legit DVD to turn up (when pirating would have had the game working on my drive within 2 hours of looking for it) The second was Medieval2 Total War. I reinstalled windows and it refused to work with my key anymore. I
Please watch out for a problem I've noticed with expanding maps - automatic flanking. On a set map, you can hold an 'edge' and have one side secured. If the enemy appears, fully developed, on your 'secure' border, you're going to get pwned before you can re-allocate your army.
I can see that being a serious problem actually. Hmm to avoid this, you could have the player's position always be the top-left or something.</
I *always* want to do this in strategy games but nobody's ever implemented it. I don't think it would be THAT hard either if it came in fairly early in the design process... So let's say I play out my first game on a small map. After a bit of a struggle I learn and beat the other guys and win, taking over the whole map. End of game. Or not? A dialogue box pops up, offering if I want to complete the game, keep playing, or extend the world. If I
