Since the developers are taking quite a bit of time to release something official, I suspect that the hotfix, in some way, will be different than the test fix that is in this thread. You are of course welcome to use the test fix. But remember that it is just a test file, and that it can only be used to play games against others that are also using the test file. -HM

The boxed Collector's Edition of the original GalCiv2 did come with a poster of the original tech tree. You can also download it here: [link="http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=2&p=6&view=full"]http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=2&p=6&view=full[/link] [link="http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=2&p=7&view=full"]http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=2&p=7&view=full[/link] The CE content (the extra jewelry, etc.) for the origin

uofadave, I'm sorry, but you might want to think a bit before accusing people of being sheep and "playing their troll card". Scroll right up the top of this page, re-read your message, and sit hard and think. What you did was insult Stardock, and in the end, the problem wasn't their fault; it was yours. Yes, it is your fault, because as a beta tester, it was your responsibility to keep a tab on these forums, and read the threads which pertain to the beta (which clearly stated it need

Sethpenguin, There is no scam. They probably don't have all the information at their fingertips. a. The purchase price gave you access to play the game in beta. b. The game is now officially released, and you can download it and play it. c. The disc will arrive within a few weeks. Perhaps they should contact Stardock for the explanation if you cannot provide it yourself. There is no scam here whatsoever (especially since I'm sure Stardock would'v

I was a beta tester, but I uninstalled prior to loading 1.9. Of course it IS possible that I didn't delete the Start Menu entries. I moved those from the default locations, and I may have simply left the beta ones, since they're merely shortcuts. Or heck, maybe I changed it to point to the launcher, since that's what the other GalCiv2 stuff in the Start menu does. -HM

I love Stardock tons. I've been with you since GalCiv1 and will always continue to buy your stuff. But one thing Stardock is not good at is manuals. If you look at truly great manuals, such as the Civ ones and Master of Orion (1 and 2), they're chock full of information. We're not asking for strategy guides, what we're asking for is detailed information on the buildings, units, and how the mechanics and statistics work (the Sins manual is also sorely lacking in this department). <br

You need to use Stardock Central or Impulse to get the latest updates to GalCiv2 and its expansions. If you were interested in standalone patches (via the URL that's prob. listed in the manual), only a few updates over the years have been done that way. Here's the complete steps for SDC. You probably have done some of them, but they're all here for completeness sake: 1. Install from the CDs. 2. Go to [link="https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp"]this URL[/link], create a

I'm coming back from a bit of a hiatus from playing GalCiv2, and thought I was missing something because the Planetary Invasion tech seemed like awfully expensive. Jamming on the Turn button just seems so...wrong. -HM

JasonH2, there are two files right in this very thread (one will test to see if the crashes you get are the sync bug, the other is a test fix for the sync bug). Simply read through the posts and do accordingly (you have to wipe out your settings file). But note that it has NOT been officially released, thus, chances are the final hotfix will differ from the file that is contained in this thread. It is also not compatible with 1.4, so you will only be able to play with others that al

There are certain lines that I don't like software companies to cross, but I'm always moving them back-and-forth as time saunters on. I don't necessarily like it, but fairly regularly, I have to decide, "Is doing x worth it so I can enjoy y?" And then I move on after making that decision. I'm quite sure Stardock understands there are people who want updates without having to use SDC or Impulse, and that these people do not want to steal their software. The "problem" is, there aren't
