Interesting. I actually like the idea that channelers (and possibly other living things) are the source for Life/Death mana, and I don't see any need to enforce a 'universal shard' model for mana supplies.
Anyway an interesting possibility for life / death magic would be to have every living thing act as a "shard" for life / death. In this rega

The changes would be easily implemented considering the actual usage model for all the elements is exactly the same. The only thing that would nee
Here is some more evidence I've gathered from old screenshots on the media page. Given what we know about mana now I think one could make the assumption that the bars i've cut out from the old pictures are mana bars. Interesting details provided here. I do wonder however was there any particular reason why life and death magic doesn't opperate like the other types of magic? Having life and death shards could have been very interesting for game-play and magic.

I'd say having multiple forces being able to participate in a given battle is a must for a game of this scale. I would be very disheartened if only two forces could battle at any given time in tactical combat.
In MoM you were considered "good" or "bad" by the AI based on your spell books. If you had at least 1 death book, you were considered "bad" and hated by all. With 1 life book you were "good" and loved by all. Since you could not take both life and death books, there was no problem.
I'd prefer if your alignment was largely based on your actions with the starting magic choice being secondary. There seems to still be a lot about the world of Elemental that requires explanation. Such as this post Frogboy just made in the new FAQ . As for the life and death magic debate I'm assuming that it isn't replacing the tired but true good / evil alignment choice. I would think you could pick death magic and still have lush green land and be considered a "good guy" by your people and other nations.

When everyone logs on we should have a tumultuous amount of data to discuss and argue over. I for one will be supremely satisfied with tactical combat if it plays like SOASE. That felt completely real-time to me since I never paused it. Although I would have enjoyed a concrete confirmation from Brad on super weapons / units and Channeler duels. (The latter I concede is unfortunately not likely.)
So there are six types of mana each relating to a specific type of magic. I would guess it is impossible for a life magic user to channel death magic during the course of a game. I am wondering however in the answer to how powerful can individual units get are you including Channelers in that equation or are we talking about purely recruitable men that have had extraordinary amounts of training and equipped with lege

Don't underestimate the hedges. They gave a load of trouble to the Allies in the european theater of war. If a hedge can stall a tank it is no laughing matter. Once you outfitted a tank with a bulldozer or flail they weren't a problem but that level of tech won't be making an appearance in Elemental.
I like it! I hope the research is far more interesting than it was in GalCiv2.
