I have a similar problem. I bought the Original Sword of the Stars, then BoB, then AMOC as boxed games. Installed fine. Now that ANY is out, I bought it from Impulse in June 2009 since that is now my preferred download source. It downloaded OK, although it went to the C:\ root since I forgot to tell it where the original install was. But no problem, I just copied the files into the correct directory, put in my email and serial when it asked me and everything was just fine until a coup

This person always, ALWAYS continued with the turn based strategy games for much MUCH longer than the real time strategy ones. Most real time strategy titles lacks depth. And if there is any, it's drowned in "blitz und glitz". And lack of support. Not to mention atrocious copy protection measures, to round off the experience Wait for Sins of a So

Before I go to purchase this game, can someone confirm 100% that Starforce is not in it please? I refused to get this back in March because it was infected with Starforce. Starforce caused me to dump my expensive DVD/CD burner last year. I downloaded a demo, I didnt realise at the time but the freaking DEMO has Starforce in it. Yes, the demo for gawd's sake. Why they put it on a demo dont know. So I had Starforce in my system and didn't know it. My CD burner stopped burning unl

Concerning stars, there are two different considerations here. 1. We know where the stars are. You can't really miss them, even without a telecope. They are bright shiny things in the middle of light years of almost nothingness. It's not as though they can hide from you behind an asteriod or something. 2. What we don't know is whether the planetary system around a star has useful planets or not. Perhaps we need to go have a closer peek?

Way to go Keith. Just flame the product without going into any specifics. Like the posters below you, I have no issues with it, but am willing to help you with yours if you can be a little more specific. First off, we need to know your computer hardware and software and what version (patched/unpatched/beta) of the game you are using. And posting your debug.err file will help us pin the problems down.

Blind starts can be fun, since it's an option you can choose either way. Go with what you prefer. No tech trading - this is an issue that seems to come up in civ-type games. Again, providing it as an option gives to the best of both worlds. The game is still young, and I think we can expect to see a few more tweaks from SD before its all done 'n dusted. Maybe a tech trading Yes/No/Only between allies type of thing. I like the way

br[quote For example, we were quite disturbed to discover that the company that makes Starforce provided a working URL to a list of pirated GalCiv II torrents./quote] Jeez, these guys are one small step below criminal. They feel so threatened by the success of a non-protected product that they actually try to get your product pirated. It's like "lets put it this way bud, use our starforce protection on your product or we'll make sure it's gonna be pirated". I was dithering

I think it's true to say that Quality products sell - and GalCiv II has proved the case. Concerning copy protection, I'm one of a growing army of purchasers that now look first at what manner of copy protection is on a game before committing to purchase. Having suffered from one Starforce game I won't ever buy another one. I have two games that I can't play at all without No-CD cracks - despite having an up-to-date DVD drive. Do games really need that level of "protection"? Unreal, Qu
