drish311: While developer interaction is always appreciated, it's only been a few weeks since ToA was formally released, and I'm presently confident that Stardock will get to this stuff in time. In the meantime, I'm trying to be a good citizen by organising the stuff together so that players and developers alike can be aware of it .
I know. The game is quite good otherwise. It's small gripes overall. I know the Altarians are a "good" race, I should have expected a
another disturbing/disappointing thing is that certain race specific tech trees gain no extra bonuses from certain ethic choices...like the Altarians as neutral only get neutral shipping and learning centers, but if you choose good they get a half dozen extra defensive techs as well as some fleet defense and attack modules.
Wow, thanks for that information! I'm playing a game as Altarians and going Neutral. Can't believe I would have missed out on all that just because
Thanks for the info but can Twilight of the Arnor 1.92 really wait until early June? There's a few pretty busy threads discussing tech tree errors, unbalanced tech trees, possible bug with tech costs, and other problems pointed out. I still want to point out with Vista a shortcut to TALauncher still doesn't get created properly. Some of these seem pretty major to me and holding off any fixing, specially re: the tech trees, can't wait until early June. Some people on the msg b
It seems there aren't a lot of official comments being posted lately.... I hope we hear from the devs.My games are getting more frustrating than fun. The tech trees/game initially seemed like an amazing improvement and game - but if they are so seriously broken it takes away the level-playing field you need to enjoy an immense game.
Unfortunately, I completely agree with rev. I'd at least like to hear from a developer that the tech trees are 100% working and ever
Small quibbles aside, I am enjoying ToA alot! It really does deserve the great reviews. I installed with SDC and Vista and had to manually create the shortcut to the launcher.
It's a little ambiguous when the only information is ingame. Makes it hard to discern a bug or intended feature.
If you interpret it that she's giving bogus answers, then the only conclusion to be reached is that she is saying that EVERY platform can turn a profit or is worth it EXCEPT the PC.
I usually play with tech trading ON. After trying both my opinion is it's a whole element to the game you miss out on if you turn it off. There's a reason why there's whole super abilities and races with diplomacy as a specialty. It can be a powerful tool if used right. About the races blending their techs together, I don't think thats accurate. The AI looks to be smarter in this game. At least at Challenging, I can usually trade for the standard techs I want if I have tech
Kryo, Hollow Man understands me. I am not asking for a strategy guide either. However, a key feature of ToA is unique races with unique techs and tech trees. It's on the Info Page about how because of this each race needs or should be played to their relative strengths. So when I ask for an updated manual, for this feature, I would expect something like: Here's all the races in the game one by one. Each race has a little history/summary. Each race the
Big supporter here but with so many changes to the racial tech trees I will continue to highlight the lack of an updated manual as a big stick in my side. Every single race plays unique and different now. Am I supposed to jump into games playing each one and right click on every unique tech to figure out what they are and how a race should be played in general based off of that? I enjoy manuals. I really want an updated manual with more information on each of the games race
TOA 101 is great, thanks! Frogboy, yeah, I guess I was just looking for something that described the races a little more and shed a little more light on their general strengths and weaknesses since they are so unique now. Nothing big. Having a blast playing. Thanks again.
I'm sorry but I can't accept this. I am a loyal Stardock fan. But this is a fairly standard priced expansion. I am enjoying it but it seems like SO MUCH has changed that it's silly that there isn't an updated manual or official reference to the changes. For example, with all the unique tech trees, there should be some expanded info on each race and how they play, strategies, list of unique techs. If there's changes to the economy, or new features like the Terror Star, I want
It's been "here" for at least 3 days now and is already up to version 1.91 ;)
I have to sadly echo the sentiments of a few others here. Software is never perfect you should expect some bugs on release time. but, although I love the new features of TA it seems like it really needed a month or two of extra development to iron out.I think much of the problem lies in the huge amount of content and such changes that were made for the final release but no the beta. The point of a beta is to test all the things in the software to ensure there are no bugs. If you then add
Frogboy, Amazing expansion. Well worth the money. I have to admit feeling a little ripped off with some recent expansions of other long-standing franchises. But with ToA is almost feels like GC3. I feel like a noob again. Great job. One q: Just noticed a patch to 1.91. Thanks much for the quick updating! Any chance you can say what was fixed?
BUMP! Please release 2.0 as soon as possible. ToA is an amazing expansion and I have always used your high detail effects mod. I can't wait to use it for the ToA. Thanks!
Is it just me or is the manual the Dark Avatar manual with a Twilight of Arnor cover page?
Frogboy, I had this problem too. Then I realized that a shortcut to TALaunch was never created. I was wondering where the editors were and the manual were. The only link I had was to run the game application. This could be causing confusion.
The only shortcut I have to launch Twilight of the Arnor takes me right into the application. Nowhere can I find the way to launch the game through the launch menu which supposedly has the options to run the editors, content, or manual. Anyone else have this problem? Where do I find all this other content? Thanks.
I think someone in a Modding thread found a strange line that might have led the developers to find the bug.
Yes, it's specifically altering your MAXPARTICULECOUNT in your user.settings. I noticed in 1.04 there is a new parameter related to MaxParticleCount.] 1.04 seems to have completely remade the user.settings so after the patch I went in right away and jacked up all the Particle Count values. I have a good rig so want to make sure I don't miss one single pa
Just wanted to say thank you to Ironclad and Stardock for the latest patch!
Frogboy is right. Congrats Brad. It's a great day for life long gamers like myself. A literal grass-roots driven publisher (Stardock) is able to stand up and succeed against the Goliaths of the industry. Not only doing that, but at the same time applying a new business model, one that goes against everything that the industry is doing (DRM) and is pro-user, pro-customer. GPG and a big name Developer like Chris Taylor obviously sees much benefit in Stardocks method of doi
I feel my IQ has lowered for reading the OP. Please please please tell me he isn't serious.
C'mon now, it's not an altogether unreasonable request for HDR. I look forward to getting that perhaps in the expansion(?). (or Sins 2?) Many games coming out these days have bloom and HDR options. (you can have either or none active) I have a high-end rig. I force my Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic to 16x and it looks absolutely amazing.
You've obviously never played NHL 94 for the Sega Genesis. Sins = NHL 94. Hello copyright infringement!?!?!?!!?!??!?
